I asked my engine dealer about the bow problem and he recommended the hydrofoil (surprised me) and he did not recommend the wedges.
I put the hydrofoil on the motor and took a test ride. I can see where I am going now!!!
At about 15 mph the bow starts to tip down. By 17 mph it evens out and I can even sit at the helm and see above the bow. I'm not going any faster but the engine is not working as hard either and I'm sure the mileage will be better. Unfortunately, the starter is still not working right. A trip to the dealer should fix that.
I didn't even have a problem with the M splash.
I'm actually doing about 5800 rpms and about 24 to 25 mph at wot. I like it better in the 4500 to 5000 range and 17 to 21 mph. The stern may wiggle a little, but I'd rather have that, than close to sinking.
At one time, my little town had more lawyers per capita than anywhere in the country. They finally made so much money they started moving away.
Of course, lawyers and money cannot replace loved ones or undo damages. I think my boat is safer now than it was but I will continue to check out the handling and performance to make sure.
