Had to chuckle at the Hog Lard.

My Dad grew up on the farm. Poor was an overstatement for what they had.

When he was a kid, his family got together to butcher hogs. I recall him saying they really loved that time, cuz as his Mom was rendering the lard (whatever that means), there would be fried grease in the pan.

That's when they got to sop bread in it--and slurp it down.

mmmmmmmm-gooddddddddddddddddd

They lived to old age despite eating that. If we tried it, we'd be dead within a year (hah)!

hope your feling better bill,in the Uk it was "dripping" sandwitches,my mum still finishes off her cook breakfasts by dropping the sliced bread into the remaining fat,she is 83
