Be aware of overhead power lines on the parade route and a mast. Even stubby, it might be tall enough to catch something.

Excellent!

Thanks Sumner...I figured it was better than them laying on the ground....I drilled 3 holes in each and lagged them to the lift. They are still 100% use-able if ever needed...but t least they do something more than sit there
Russ I need to refresh my memory later, but I think 12'3 is max for big rigs...I'm pulling the number outta my ass at this moment, but I'll look it up later...
I figure with height of boat on trailer I could prob do maybe a 5-6 ft mast...
Gonna be neat to have a VN23 in a town christmas parade

Take some pictures.
Looks like a lot of fun. Think of all the decorating you can do.
Also, you now have two great lightning rods on your property.

Actually, the ungrounded metal barn next to them has been more of an issue

It's actually 13'-6", with bridges on interstates at 14'-6" minimum, but that may not apply to local roads. And certainly not all bridges.

Even at that I would be careful, as already suggested. Take a look at the parade route. A couple of times in the very distant past I've hit wires that shouldn't have been as low as they were, and I was well below legal height, but on local roads that don't see much truck traffic. Wires must've sagged at some point, and I was the unlucky one to bring that to the attention of the phone company (who's wires are generally lower than power).

yeah, I already planned on it...town of Rolesville is around the corner from me....I was going to check the route...I used to work for the cable company years ago climbing poles, and before that I climbed cell towers...(yeah, those were fun

) So yeah I know the wires sag....however semi trucks do run main street all the time so I should be fine
I will be well below the max height....just planning on using an old boom and rigging it up as a parade mast....thats 6 ft long I think, and I could always cut it down
My neighbor is on the chamber of commerce, how this all started....seems that even though the Rolesville Marina is not a "legit biz" thats ok, but if I wanted to advertise (I don't) then the entry fee is $50 and up depending on the amount of signage for your biz....however, if I team up with a non-profit then it's $15....so i am trying to see if anyone local wants to team up and make a pirate themed float....I would prefer Vet charity as I am a Vet....but anything good is pretty much ok with me...I just want to be in the parade with a Vn23

Couple updates:
I passed on the parade...wanted to do it, but only had 1 week to get ready. Not eough time as the addition for the inlaws moving up has started
The two old masts work perfect for hoisting and drying sails
I also put up the smaller one I have behind, so I can hoist up 3 sails to dry at once
Got the rest of the neighbor kids auto repair junk out of my lean too....and did a thorough cleaning
Wood work on the VN23 coming along....in winter mode here now

Russ might have an issue with your definition of "winter mode"

They poured the concrete slab the other day...construction on the in-laws addition starts soon.
Meanwhile I can't leave well enough alone...and I bought a houseboat today for $180
hmm, not sure why I can't a big pic to load....anyway, I pick it up tomorrow so I will take better pics

Ha ha!
Well, 60s here today. Crazy winter weather. I'm sure that white stuff will reappear soon enough.
Hope Sanford's new addition doesn't interfere with the marina operation.
