Hello Phillip,

I hope you got the ship with the extenders, otherwise she tends to shake, truth be told....(firefly joke for those unfamiliar with the show).

Renaming a boat has several steps:

1) Removal all traces of the old name from the vessel itself.
2) Remove all documents, pictures, plaques, ships papers which have the old name on them. No trace of the old name can be anywhere on the vessel.
3) On the water offer a libation to whatever sea god you prefer, and drop into the water a weighted fob with a biodegradable paper slip with the name of the boat written on it.
4) Let the sea god know that this ship may be removed from his/her books, and thank them for their protection of the previous vessel.
5) Drink the rest of the libation.

Once this is done you may rename the boat with the usual christening ceremony, but not before.

Fair Winds ...

The Admiral & I named our 26M "Y.B.NORMAL".

I've always loved the song about "the sloop John B", and was working on some names off that when I came up with "the sloop Y.B."
As our boat isn't a "normal" sailboat or a "normal" powerboat, and neither of us is "normal" - (both of us and our families are a little crazy), the name worked.
We get some great comments about the name when we're sitting at the seawall.

My parents' old Chris Craft was named Cou-Lin Breeze, using the first 3 letters of their and their partner's last names. I wanted to use that
name, but the Admiral outvoted me 3 to 1.

It took me three years but i finely figured out a name for my :macm: . I named her after my Grandmother Pearl Bay.

This Poem hangs inside the boat. It was written the week of her passing. She was one special lady.

I thought about the name for my boat for months, I really stressed about it, finally I named it "Just Relaxing" because on my boat is the only time I really can relax.

Not to change the subject but has anyone seen the news about the Aussie Millionaire who is building a cruise ship which will look exactly like the Titanic. Only One of the stacks will be functional and rest will be for authenticity.

Yeah but Clive is a bit of a tosser. He recently told us that your CIA and Obama were working through the Greens party to try and destroy the Australian Coal industry ...

Yeah, he's a bit of a nutjob, but he does have billions and is the biggest donor to our right wing party here (so he will be getting whatever he likes after the next federal election)...

Dont get me wrong though, He might be a goose, but he has been spruking it up about the Titanic thing and he sure has the dollars, so he will probably do it 8)
