Well I've had it on CL for $400 for a couple days now....got one reply, but the man lives to far away to let him "borrow" the trailer....even with an $800 deposit he may just keep it. I don't want to chance losing the trailer...

So today I pulled the for sale ad, re-posted in the Barter section (trade for anything) and see what happens

Plan C: Pull the prop and motor out....give the hull away for free

Cheers

sent you a email

i'm interested in a few items

cam cleats and an jam cleats

a small pulley or two

If you have a fuse panel i'd also be interested in that.

I would never reuse coax cable. It's cheap enough to replace with a good quality RG-8X cable.
$25 for 50' with connectors

$50 for military spec 50' cable I think this is probably overkill for most of us.

Cable insulation can degrade over time and since a VHF is primarily a safety item, I would always use new cable.

If the boat is in as bad condition as he states, I wouldn't trust the fuse panel either. Even the cheap fuse panel that the factory puts in these boats is only $31

thanks for the link to the cable.

how hard is it to remove/re install the ends on those cables for feeding them thru the mast and then thru a hole in the roof of the cabin and put the end back on?

Sorry to the OP for the threadjack.

First of all, I'm a BIG fan of mounting the antenna high. VHF is line of sight and altitude matters.
I wouldn't cut the cable and pull it through the deck. But you may want to cut it and pull it through the mast. Then you'll need a connector.
If you want to put new ends on, use something like this
http://www.amazon.com/Shakespeare-PL-25 ... +connector
or a soldered one like this
http://www.amazon.com/Parts-Express-PL2 ... +connector

I pulled a patch cable through the cabin to the deck fitting with something like this
http://www.amazon.com/US-Made-Microwave ... l259+cable

And connect it to the antenna cable with one of these
http://www.amazon.com/Shakespeare-PL-25 ... +connector
Gold plated if you want to spend the cash
http://www.amazon.com/Shakespeare-SHAKE ... 258+barrel

This way I can disconnect from the mast. The downside is every connector is a point of signal loss, but you make up for that with altitude of your antenna.

NP hi-jacking me.... :D

So someone feel like explaining what this "rolling/furling? jib thingy is, and if it is something I might be able to put on the Venture?

pretty sure the mast might be too heavy, but not sure about this piece

I got a lead to sell whats left of the Hull for $200...then with what I sell my trailer for I will make the $400 + some...and then all the gear.
I am happy with that...

the Bow pulpit looks great on the venture (dry fit)

Dave - look on the end of the foresail (the one draped over the mast in your first picture....

If the sail ends in a cup with some line or an empty spool - thats a furler - sort of a window shade arrangement to change the size of the fore sail while underway..

They start at 400 USD new - for this size boat Im guessing more like 700 USD new, so 300-350 used..look for a name on the spool - Harken, Schaeffer, Snap Furl, CDI..

So for those following the story here's the next chapter

I've gotten everything off the hoopty except the mast step base...

I've had zero luck with Craigslist selling (or even bartering) the hull and the motor off to someone else for $400 obo

However I did get one email from a Capt Skip Wilson that offered $150...says he works with troubled youths and they will "restore" for outings....will be a perfect match as this is a troubled boat...

So I am waiting for his reply as to when he will get this beast outta my yard...

This is what it looks like now
Image

This is all the gear I got (well some I had)

And here is a "Dry Fit" Of the Venture's new Bow Pulpit

Image

Since I am only allowed 3 images I will have to wait until it lets me post again... I took a photo of that Rolling Jib thingy for Catigale to look at....

There is some kinda cup thingy on the bottom....

Cheers

That kind of looks like it is a furler for a code 0 or other type of spinnaker. I mean without a drum to collect the line it just lets the line go through. It's all about speed of getting the furl in or out.

It looks expensive to me..well done hardware and heavy pins and rigging

There is a class of furler that doesnt window shade like the CDIs - there is a single loop of furler line that runs it in/out - kind of like Colonel Kings (ret) mainsheet arrangement. This has just made its way down into our market segment of boats - if someone put this on your Bucaneer, Dave - you've hit the motherlode...

Look for a MFG name ASAP

It says "Reefer II" "Cruising Design" on it ??

The Hoopty is gone...posted it for Free on Craigslist and got about 40 "I want it" emails....
Picked a fellow that wasnt far from me...he tied a chain to a tree, the other end to the rudder and jerked it right off the boat...

He is going to cut out the keel and recycle it, and his kids are yanking out the motor to sell

there was nothing left in or on the boat but the keel and the motor (I kept the propeller)

I will be selling my single axle Mac trailer and most likely that other mast after I get the rigging (stays) off it

Admiral is pleased it is gone...was very ugly

I think I did good for my $400
I got a crapload of expensive gear
I have a spare trailer to sell, and a better trailer for my boat
and a spare mast to sell for profit

And I didn't have to pay to dispose of the hulk

Not bad huh Catigale? :D

I meant he jerked the boat off the trailer, not the rudder off the boat LOL :D :D .
