I saw that a few months ago. It was pretty cool. Wished they'd kept going.

Finally gave in and bought "Black Sails", season one and binge watched the whole season over the course of about a week. Cheesy? Maybe a little. Gratuitous sex and nudity? Why yes. Yes there is. But it is an incredibly well produced pirate drama set in a beautiful setting and it actually tells the story pretty well. I give it a thumbs up and look forward to season 2!

You've peaked my interest. I'll look it up when I get home.

Maiden Voyage I think was the name of one I just saw recently - it's about a 14 year old Dutch girl that takes a 38 foot Gin Fizz around the world by herself.

I just watched Deep Ocean. It was on my Netflix list and I'm not sure how it got there. I must of heard about it from you guys. Interesting story, but not a happy one.

Some day I'm going to figure out what that anchor is. It looks like a Bruce of course, but it has slightly wider flanges on the shank, and I've
never seen one like that. They all have smooth shanks, except for maybe the Vulcan from Rocna, but that's a new one with machined shank and is a completely different animal (looks like a Spade). Looks like cast steel.
Or maybe it's just a prop, and was milled from wood.

It's a poly foam - they have over 300 different ones in the warehouse - I saw a lot of them in the studio tour.
That particular actor would not be able to lift a real Rocna that size even if his stunt double's life depended on it, (and no way even if he could get it into his hands he could hold it upright like that).
Old Hollywood tricks - we have seen em all over here - pretty sure that particular prop is one i saw in Orlando, or I saw a picture of it - can't remember, but I'm almost sure it's a fake.

Oh, great! Now you're going to tell me this one isn't real, either.
Judging by the scale, I'd have to guess the one Kurt Russell is holding is at least 36" long, which makes it a 110 pounder, minimum. So I guess he's probably
not holding a real one, especially points-up like that.

Great movie. Not the best for a green sailor lol... how do I now convince the better half to come sailing with me.. I should say floating with me.
So calm with water pouring into his boat. Haha
Good watch. Now I need a life raft. Thx.. lol

Take a picnic lunch, and another couple she likes. Make a nice day of it. Taking another couple allows you to sail while significant social interaction takes place - a task you may not be able to manage until you've gotten the boat figured out. If you have a buddy who is a decent sailor and can help you figure things out - that's even better. Get it all worked out, pack the boat yourself and make it easy for the admiral the first few trips.
I've found that a lot of people don't find working on stuff, scrubbing, cleaning and packing, to be enjoyable. If you think you've got a hard sell, try to make it as easy on the admiral as possible.
If she can actually enjoy the trip, she'll be a lot more likely to want to go next time.

Great advice- I'll add that the unpacking, trailering, and de-rigging for the road can be among the biggest turnoffs at the end of an otherwise pleasant day on the water! If you can get an overnight slip for a few days, it always softens the inevitable....
