Well if there is anything to be learned from this thread it is that you not make the same mistake twice.

...Make it four or five times, just to be sure.

I have a long way to go , new at this sailing but I am very good and well practiced as at forgetting things. Forget to put the plug in on the jet boat, run out of fuel with a full tank because the vent cap is closed, try to track without putting down dragger board, try to load 26M on trailer with dragger board down ( It won't go on trailer).

Early on I did the same thing, but the engine quit just as I was going through a bridge that opened for me. The bridge tender called me up on the VHF and asked if I was still coming through while I was desperately changing from one fuel tank to the other in a blind hope that the engine might start. Thankfully, it did, and I really learned my lesson about the vent caps!

Left slip with fuel line disconnected. EFI engine will run for about 2 minutes on fuel in the fuel filter - just long enough to enter the channel full of barges.

Kink in fuel line shut off motor in Westport Harbor - during full tidal flood.

Came off the nicest run in about 15 knots and into a beam reach with full genny deployed..and learned the difference between true and apparent wind instantly.

Hah! did both of those Fuel SNAFU's last season. The former knocked the motor out *just* as I was approaching the slip....

Hahahaaaahaaa, I feel so much more competent now, I have done most of these things which means I must be just about qualified by now. :)

Keep 'em coming, I'm enjoying this thread, glad I started it.

Tight lines, Dennis.

Forgot to bring corkscrew for several bottles of wine for a week long outing. Fortunately wine corks slide both ways!

Two more...

Box wine

More of it and it doesn't roll around or smash into a million razor sharp pieces in the bilge that you get to pick out of the fiber glass, half cut in the dark, only to find suprise pieces for several years after :P
