Pictures must be placed on a public server such as PhotoBucket. The instructions that follow are for photobucket, but other image hosting sites will be similar and this is not an endorsment of photobucket.

Go to your photobucket account.
Hover your mouse pointer over the picture that you want.
Several options will appear.
Go down to the IMG code and left click in the code box to the right.
Left click in the code box and select copy.

Now, while composing your post on this forum, right click at the place that you want the pic to appear and select paste. It will look like this:

Code: Select all

Here is a picture that I took in the San Juan Islands:

Cool, huh?

It will appear on the forum like this:

The forum software will automatically re-size the pic for easy viewing and when a member left clicks on it, the original size will be viewable. The board does not actually download, or store the pic, it just uses the code to make your browser do the work. Repeat for up to three pics/post. It is best to use the "Preview" option, to make sure that everything is OK, before you submit the post. There is a three picture limit/post, to help protect those that still have slow internet (me when out & about).

Enjoy,
~Rich

Flickr is a little more difficult.
  • Left click on the pic that you want to post.
Above the pic, left click on "All Sizes".
Left click on the size that you want to post. Large works best.
    Right click on the pic.
Left click on "Properties". A window will open.
Beside Address (URL), is the url that you will post. Copy all lines of it.
I triple click on it and it highlights all of it.
Copy and paste this between the [Img] tags in your post.

You used the wrong code. Either use the Direct Link code, or the IMG code. The only difference between the two is, the latter already includes the [Img] tags.

Looks okay to me - but more important:

Look at how a background of bonny Scotland shows off the beauty of that 26X!

Something about the way that white hull stands out in such a contrast to that ancient weather-beaten seawall.

You wouldn't get that lovely effect with a blue hull ...

This is now one of my favorites for showing what a Mac can do. . . . .but don't try this at home, kids.
Chesapeake Bay, last week, from Cape Charles to Cobb Marina. SCA issued, winds @ 15 with gusts of 20, waves building to 3-4 feet. Solo with sheets cleated (a no no). I had just left the 2 Xs in the distance and was coming down fast on a Catalina 22 who was taking the picture. (note bow wake. great ride.) A few minutes later, the wind clocked and XX got knocked down---way down. Twice. No one got a pic of that, but what an adventure!

A good Mac picture is as easy as ... 3-4-5

3 Macs beached at sunset (Un-Tethered, König, and Allons-y)
Image

4 Macs chasing Allons-y towards St. Augustine (from L-R: Inquistor's boat...as of yet un-named, Southern Soul [slower blue hull in the rear... 8) ], Un-Tethered, and König)
Image

And 5 Macs making their way up the ICW from St. Augustine to Jacksonville (photo from Un-Tethered, then Southern Soul, then König, then Inquisitor's boat with the big U.S. Flag, and leading the pack is Allons-y)
Image

Come join the next Jax Mac Get-Together and you can join the fun.
