7 and 8 is heavy for boat our size. I would use 5 to 6oz range. Doyle upgraded mine to the Challenge sail cloth around 5 to 6oz. This was the quote from Doyle about using it so I figured who am I to argue with a sail designer. It was made at one of the lofts back east, don't remember what one.
"I have attached the final pricing with mainsail insignia
and third spinnaker color. I upgraded the mainsail
cloth to the Dimension Square Weave on the advice
of our sail designer. He loves it for mainsails in this
size range. It also offers much better bias control for
your mainsail aspect ratio. The cloth upgrade was $68"

Check with JudyB - she will give you lighter weights if you ask - bear in mind that lighter weights are for less than 25 knots.
Neo wrote:Hi BOAT, that's a good tip. But what weights is heavy?... 7oz or 8oz ?.... I find the original Mac sail (which I believe is 5 oz) nice and easy to handle. Does anyone do a 5oz Super Cloth?
Hi Flyboy, where did you find information on Wind averages for the past 47 years?
All the best.

Viagr? might help u out !!Neo wrote:Hi All,
I've been pulling hard on the Haylard (into and sightly off the wind) but the Main always stops short about 12 to 18 inches from the top block .... and my Main remains a bit baggy on the boom .... This this normal?
Not sure if I'm looking at a worn out sail or there's something wrong near the top of the mast?
All the best.
