Building a new M trailer in Australia

Post by Stephen Mooney »

:macm: I have a 2006 model and the trailer is now rusted beyond repair. Has anyone built a new trailer in Aus, preferably Melbourne or is the cheapest and most sensible to start with the new aluminium frame that Philip imports and go from there. I have read some threads but they seem like mods of the existing trailer.

Try getting a good welder to cut and weld a steel one using the rusty one as a pattern. Then get is hot dip galvanised and add galvanised wheels, springs and a disc brake system. You can plan it and the welder will make it properly. you can put it together. I saved $2,000 building this one for my Vivacity.

The original was badly rusted but the same pattern...but only single axle. Sorry it does not show the draw bar. It is just twin rails of the same size tubing. Note the open ends. when it was galvanised, both inside and outside the tubing is done. Do not seal them off...No water can be trapped. And they can be flushed with freshwater. Happy trailering...
