Came accross infomation about another Mac clone built by Odin. Two sizes are available, a 24' and a 27'. Seem to be patterned after the 26X.

I had one Spanish Imexus 27 side bi side with mi "Ariane" Mac 26X.
Outside i seems a more "standard" sailboat.
It is larger and has more beam.
In side mi mac is as lot better space organization.
On that we must recognize that Mr. roger is a genius.
Sailing and motor performance
Mi boat outranked it...
Of course that for sailing mi boat as a lot of extra equipment...
All UK Sails and Harken gear...
Jose
PS: But the Imexus is a much more solid and heavier boat

Tiarra Yachts is going to make a limited reproduction run of its
S2 7.9 's/ a 26 foot trailerable fast sailboat.
Draft of around 14 inches with dagger board up. Sits low in the trailer and launches/retrieves like macgreggors ! The mast is just as easy.
Pros: This is a one-design Cruiser/racer : fast with 168 PHRF/ very low 80's on the Portsmouth system. Price will be less than 50 grand, and will hold its value well. Very Good headroom, and sleeps 4 very comfortably.
The Hunters 260's are slugs compared to this, and the Macgreggors even slower. This is a very well made boat, and the reproduction will be in keeping with the ONE-Design specs.
Cons: Small Outboard motor ranging from 4 to 15 horsepower 9.9 being more than adequate for almost all situations. Most sailors only use 5 or 6 horsepower one these boats. Need a vehicle with towing capacity of 5,000 lb.s
I used to have a MAC 26X. I loved it, but now I enjoy sailing faster, and passing my buddies.

At least the S2 7.9 has a decent beam, 9' according to yachtworld specs, just what I always wished for in a trailerable.
It could be just the right timing to do a limited reproduction, if I was in the market I would seriously look at it.
The 27 Odin wastes too much space with the transom engine well area.
The MacGregor 26M with a 8'6" or 9' beam would be ideal!
Permits for wide loads are easy and cheap to obtain.

Captain Frank II,
the reproduction will be in keeping with the ONE-Design specs.
I was not aware that there were rules on reproduction?

Especially on one design

According to the Kamasutra there are many rules

Under sail, all sailboats look wonderful

It's when the main is wrapped in its cover, and the Genoa is furled, that's when the aesthetic beauty of a Mac shines through. Our boats are beautiful. Plain and simple

The boat this thread is about is ugly! It's boxy. It does not have any graceful lines. It's a plain Jane. Under sail, like all of its relatives, it nice, but when the make-up comes off
I don't understan what the big deal is about.
