Hatch Tracks

I was wondering if anyone could recommend some place to get replacement companionway hatch tracks for a Venture 222

Make them out of mahogany or if you can find it High Density Plastic (the white stuff like a cutting board).

Wow! $150! I'd buy some HDPE and make some homemade ones. HDPE saws and routes very nicely.

I'm sure you can find a supply that will ship you widths less than 24". But HDPE comes in mighty handy around the boat, so it wouldn't hurt to have some leftover.

I would like to take mine off and put something underneath for wear. This is the cause of the with tear streaks on the "M".

Right, same here. You'd probably have to route or raise the factory cover-strips to allow for the extra thickness of adding a teflon or hdpe slide-strip under the hatch. On the other hand, if the edge of the hatch is actually the problem (I think it is) it would probably be better to have the teflon on the hatch itself - as opposed to it laying on the cabin top.

Make them yourself. It's easy if you have a table saw, but can be done with a skillsaw and a guide. I used some old teak from a market style umbrella. It was free, and made the boat look great. I don't see why you couldn't use pretty much any kind of wood, as long as you sealed it good. Cedar is not so expensive as teak. Or like somebody else said, that plastic stuff, I personally like the teak look though.
