A trip is setting up for a run to Two Harbors Fri,Sat,Sun, 1-3 May.
So far, three boats are on the trip.
Mike / Karen on "Agusta", Pat on "Tropico", and Bill / Sue on "Cease-fire".
A zero-dark thirty go Friday morning from MDR for those that want, other start times and places as you need.
String line at Two Harbors is the goal.
BBQ your steaks on the beach.

Anyone one else up for a peaceful weekend with like-minded Mac folks?
A great time in store.

If I dont get my engine done by then Ill mount the 4 hp dingy motor on the transom and leave Thursday morning, That way we all get there at the same time fri. Just kidding looks like it will be done wed the latest. We can have an install party on my boat at the island, Install all the little junk I wont have time to do before we leave. Unimportant things like compass, gps, auto pilot, steering gear, Ill go at night and navigate by the stars, or better yet have Karen stand in front of the console with a flash light holding the compass for me to read. Reminds me of the two guys pulling up to the bait barge in long beach harbour next to me one day.

They were in a 15 foot runabout, that looked like the guys great grand father used to own, it had a trash can for a bait tank inside the boat sloshing water out of it, and the oldest looking outboard I ever saw, bolted to a transom that was taking swell water over it, as they were parked next to me. It was a bit foggy and the driver dead serious asked me the way to Avalon Catalina, I told him the heading from there, and he interrupted me and said he didnt have a compass, to just point, so I did...I didnt say anything about the condition of the boat or fog, I didnt want to needlessly worry them on their trip over to the island.

I hope to make this trip as well. No crew or departure time set, heck I may even go solo. Pulling in to the string line may be a problem if there is wind, but one way or another I'll pull it off.

If needed, I'll dinghy over, climb aboard and tend to the lines if that will help anything for you.
See you there.

Hmmm.
Hadn't considered looking at the weather, we get so spoiled.
So, weather permitting, it's still a go for now.

I took a look at a few sources and the bad weather we seem to be expecting for next weekend is highs of 74, lows of 54 and a 10 knot hurricane, no chance of rain. Another Cr 8) ppy day in paradise!

10 knot hurricane, thats good. It was blowing so hard today at MDR, that I could hear main sail lines smacking against all the mast's there. probably 15-20 knots of hurricane winds.
we are spoiled...

Hi Mike (Aya);

When I tell people about MDR, I tell them that the wind comes up ALMOST every day between 11:30 AM and 12:30 PM at between 7 & 12 MPH and stays that way with very little variance (sic) until at least 7:00PM - - - and by the way the wind ALMOST always comes from the same direction - - - straight down the channel so you have to tack out to the Santa Monica Bay if you are sailing not motoring. On the way back to the slip, the wind is at your back.

I don't know how I put up with it for 3+ years??? :D :D :D

Spoiled isn't the word from what I am now! When I was in San Felipe and the October winds were round the clock at 30 to 40 MPH, I couldn't wait to get out of there :!:

Hey Mike, I stopped by to work on Tropico and checked out your mods. One question. Where is your motor? See you on Friday.

what someone took my motor?????? If the new motor isnt ready by the time we go, Ill be using my 4hp evinrude dinghy motor and a pair of oars karen can use, Ill be beating the cadence drum.
Funny I could use the whaler to tow the mac, the whaler is almost ready just have to clean up the cable and wire mess laying in the whaler. You know with those vacuum cleaner looking hoses wrapped around the wires and steering cables. Would have done it yesterday except the 5200 isnt dry yet and its still messy.

Hey let me have that nice plate you have installed on your transom outside, your motor is sitting on, where did you get that? tropico sure looks ready to go.

Mike, Pat,
We are ready to power or motorsail over, depending on the situation.
We are still getting to MDR Thurs, 3ish-4ish, to prep and launch.
We will RON Chase park ready to go anytime Fri morning.
Pick the time.
Mike, did you know about reserving a Two Harbors string line spot by phone?
That can make the trip over less hurried by the "first come-first served" thing.
