I understand the trailer has been assembled, lights up and on. The hitch change over today & tomorrow. Next week the trailer compliance plate and registration.
All in time for 2 weeks hols cruising Moreton Bay. Hope we can set it up in time. Got an idea for fly screens for both hatches. (Needed in the passage for onite stays) Got some fish & crabs up at Limepocket (further north from Poverty) recently in our old TS. (Princess 18).

I use one of those camping Mosquito nets that I hang from the boom and then around the winches (held on with some shock cord type sail ties) and then leave it overhang the hatch which works pretty darn well. The forward hatch I use a piece of fly screen tied under the hatch and two heavy sinkers at the other end in the hatch groove which is mostly effective....

While you have your trailer in pieces have a look at the tyres. If they are the original EOM ones they are boarder line in terms of weight rating and mine were only 2 ply . Putting proper truck tyres on was the best thing I ever did as it made a dramatic improvement in the handling of the trailer.

Thanks for the heads up on the tyres David. And the fly screens. I like your website. I noticed you mounted your dept sounder inside the cabin. I have one to mount also. Inside gives you vision from more places I suppose.

Going over to the Mac this morning to measure up for table cushion and check serial nrs for insurance. ....and maybe take a photo.

Progress picking up Mac 26M...
Trailer is complianced plated. It is going to Qld Tport this am for registration. Then the crane to be ordered for placing the hull on trailer. Hopefully pick up Sat am.
This is better than christmas. All those birthday cards I get from family with sail boats on them. They must be part of the ether and contributing to this preferred picture.

Now how does it all work. Getting 40mm pvc for extending trailer guides. Fly screen frames will be interesting and sounder to do this WE. Also rigging mast & boom to see how it comes together.

Brakes worked well on trailer for the haul home. You really have to take those corners wide to allow for the length. Not sure how to attach the bimini ? Perhaps another Mac person could provide a photo of their setup

Put the motor down level for the oil to settle. (4 stroke). The neighbours slowed down for a look as they drove past. May be the only Mac on the island

Congrats on the first drive home!!

The Bimini on the 26X is different to the 26M so I can't help you with photos. I find I need to add 15 mins or so to my rigging time as Macs always attract a few onlookers interested in the Mac.

Have you got the mast up yet?

Hi Here is a picture of our bimini. We have our bimini hard up against the rear arch. This means the boom actually is below the leading edge of the bimini. As long as the boom vang is kept tight there is no interference with the sail. This allows much better forward and upward vision from the helm



This picture was taken on the morning after Y Knot arrived home. Playing with a new toy is lots of fun Its even better when you get onto the water.

Your boom appears to be at a weird angle (ie not horizontal)... Is that just an optical Illusion? It is also interesting that your bimini looks like the 26x model and not what I have seen on the M (nothing wrong with that of course... just an observation)... Your simile says it all

Dave, I have the boom raised by the topping lift so I can walk around the cockpit without banging my head(6'2")
