Hi, All.
After a great trip up to the whitsunday,s,and Morton bay,I am now planning a trip to Refuge Cove
in January .
I am not setting a specific date, I will be watching the weather patterns to get a window of 3-4 days then off I,ll go.
If any other macs wish to come along they would be most welcome.
Regards Kevin Svenson (BIRD OF PASSAGE).

Kevin, The only Refuge Cove I know is in Pittwater East of Scotland Island, is that the area you are talking about?

Hi Glenn,
No, I,m not heading over to Scotland, The Refuge Cove I,m talking about is at the bottom of Victoria at Wilson Promontory.
We put the yachts in at port Welsh-pool, and sail out into Bass Strait. It takes 6-8 hours to sail to the cove, but is well worth
the trip. It is very similar to Wine Glass Bay in Tassie, except it is smaller. I have sailed down there a few times before
and really enjoy the scenery . The best time to go is after a north westerly blow, this is why I am not setting a definite
date.
Regards Kevin.

G'Day Kevin

The Scotland Island I refer to is in Pittwater off the Hawkesbury River, a trip to Victoria in January could be a problem for us, shame, I really like Wine Glass Bay.

Fair winds to you.
Glenn

Kevin,
we'll be down the Lakes from the 5th to the 21 Jan and would love to have a go. I had a look at the spot on Google Map and it looks like a great spot. Well protected from all directions. Looks a bit tidal getting out of Port Welshpool, but good after that in anything from a South Westerly to North Easterly. There would have to be an opportutity some time during those dates?

My only note of concern is that I suppose at some point we would have to be more than 2nm off the coast and would be required to have an EPIRB on board. I'll look into trying to hire one as I do not envisage doing enough coastal hoping to warrant the $700+ AUD on one.

Would be a very good trip, and I'll be planning to include it in my holiday's this Xmas. 8)

Hi, All.
It looks like January is going to slip by before we get a chance to go down to the Prom.
The weather patten is also a lot better in April, so I think we will try again to do the trip then,
