Well after several years of looking, five years of lusting, and two years lurking on this site...I finally pulled the Trigger I found the exact Mac, at the right price, I had been looking for at Boat Atlanta and kudos to BA owner Mark Lusink for all his help. Pulled her home ( 750 miles round trip) late last night and started detailing her interior this afternoon. The First Mate (Wife) named her Dream Chaser and I couldn't be happier as she has now officially bought into her, rode, chain and anchor (pun intended) So anxious to dig into a few mods, but the PO has done a lot already. Thanks to all of you for helping me understand that this could be done and keeping my spirits up in time of financial owes with all of your wonderful ideas and stories. You have broadened my understanding of the boat and have gave me literally hundreds of tips on where to go and what to do. Life is a Dream and now we are off Chaser(ing)!

What did the neighbors say when they saw the boat

The neighbors came flooding in yesterday as we were working on the boat, lots of nice comments although they are all, pontoon/power boat owners They had lots of question, the most common being "when are you going to take us/me sailing" Waiting for a slip to open at a near by marina, and want to practice mast raising a few times before we slip her. I will work on the pics as my last didn't seem to work to well.

She came with a CDI RF genoa, mounted VHF and stereo radio/cd (two built in speakers and two hanging speakers) coaxial to a large antenna mounted on rear railing. Garmin GPS/Chartplotter/fish finder, shore power with 4 interior receptacles, 7 12v receptacles, three fans, lines lead aft, Anchor/chain/rode, elect water pump to galley faucet, 2010 antifouling paint on bottom and rudders, 2008 double axle trailer (tows like a dream), 2006 Doyle Main, Mainsheet, boom vang, shroud/chainplate protectors, lazy jacks (which I haven't been able to figure out installation as of yet), 2- marine batteries with combiner switch, bimini, hanging anchor lite, life vests, cooler, main hatch screen, mast raising system... and more stuff, I am sure, that I cannot think of at the moment.

I do want to buy a porta potty (thinking...Sealand or Dometic - 5 gal), a stove, and would like a new rode for the keel if I can find where it attaches to the lift wire?? and I want to install an anchor roller, although there is a hanger attached to the bow pulpit. There are several other things I want to modify or add also but that will happen as time goes by.

I know she has spent some time in Florida around the Keys, as I found literature and maps in the cabin and has seen service on Lake Lanier in GA.

I replaced my centerboard (keel) pendant twice this year - once with a new stainless-steel wire, and again with an all-StaSet pendant when that new wire corroded through! Twenty feet of 5/16" polyester double-braid line is a couple of feet longer than you absolutely need, but it's easier to have a little too much than to splice on a little more.

There was a thread on replacing the centerboard pendant a few months ago. It's straightforward, but dropping the C/B isn't a job for the faint-hearted - especially the first time, when the 5200-type sealant has been cured for the last decade.

One thing I would recommend before you thread in the new pendant - use a small grinder to widen and smooth out the hole in the deck where it goes into the compression post, and the hole way up in the upper edge of the centerboard trunk where it comes out. This will keep it from abrading the line, and I found it impossible to do with the line in place! D'oh!

I also drilled a second hole in my C/B, close to the original hole, and threaded the line "out and back" from the depression that's molded into the board where the line attaches. I tied a figure-eight knot and melted that knot shut.

For your peace of mind, I exhort you to get this done before you put Dream Chaser into the water. A broken C/B cable is a truly miserable wake-up call at 3 AM "on the hook," and it's no fun trying to pull the board up with a dock line so it won't clunk-clunk around and wreck the rest of the night's sleep! Plus, it's an extra problem getting the boat on the trailer with the board hanging. (The Voice of Experience talking here -TWO experiences, which are one-and-a-half too many!!!)

Allan - check out the bottom of your compression post on your 2002 I had a bad piece of metal on mine and lost it to salt water corrosion a few years ago. New one is fine.

To check, lift the smoked acrylic plate about it with a butter knife, carefully. Glue back down with a dab of glue.

On edit - changed 'smoked glass' to 'smoked acrylic' What was I smoking??

Rick: Does the Centerboard have to be completely removed to change out the pendent? I thought that it could be done with just lowering the CB while on the trailer, at least that is what I thought. There appears to be enough room under the trailer to lower it quite a bit but will have to wait until it warms a bit and stops snowing to check that out. IF it is a matter or removing the CB then I will put it on my list of things to do before I slip her
Right now we are cleaning all the cockpit and interior cushions and want to give the cabin a good cleaning and maybe painting. My Mods list is being updated almost daily.

KHE: I am not sure where you are talking about??? I have only been inside the cabin twice now but don't remember seeing a smoked glass plate?? Maybe a little more detail please?

Just a cosmetic question in general; It came with a 12lb Danforth and although not rusted it does look shabby. There is a bracket on the front railing to hang it but it looks so used that I that thought about spray painting the anchor with a Rustoleum Black? I know it would look better hanging there but will the paint be scuffed off all to easy with use???

I would try painting it. Maybe a gray color so if it comes off it will match the metal underneath.

After 2 seasons, the sticker on my anchor is still on there. I thought like new tires, it would wear off quickly. Nope. It's still on there and I'm gonna have to scrape it off. I also anchor in some gritty bottoms that I assumed would help remove it.

Congratulations on your new passion! So sorry you won't be visiting me to see if my would have worked out for you but thanks for your free plug on my classified ad!

Yes, the whole centerboard can be removed with the boat on the original trailer, on your newer double axle one, it depends on where the middle bunk is, if only the rear part of the centerboard is resting on the bunk, you should be OK. If you can lower the front of the board enough to clear the trunk, you can then slide it forward until it clears the bunk and comes clear of the boat. Or you can just leave the rear end resting on the bunk while you work on the line/wire/pendant.

KHE's smoked glass plate is the piece of black trim you will find at the base of the mast compression post, just on top of where the centerboard trunk is, right next to the forward dinette seat.
