Windvane Davis gone

My Davis windvane is gone after sailing at 32 mph wind gusts.
I'm sure I screwed the windvane all the way tigh, but when I was sailing heeling at 30 degrees, I saw the windvane snap out of the windvane mount and into the ocean, now I know that a replacement is $30 dlls. at Defender, but dont know if with our winds it will snap out again.
Maybe is a good idea to have the small windvanes that defender sells for the lateral stays for $25 dlls.

If you are talking about the starboard and port shroud vanes, I think they would catch on a Genoa unless mounting them pretty high... I would stick with Davis mast mount WINDEX 15 and triple check that set screw is tight in the groove at bottom of shaft...
I speak from expierience 2 boats 9 years sailing and 4 or 5 wind vanes most due to hitting something while rigging or my carelessness...None of them just came off and I have been in 27 knots
If you need a Windex 10 I have a one that is 1 month old ( my last breakage my wife picked up smaller one by mistake)

Mine was a Windex 15
The small vanes for lateral stays, I think they can stay clear of the jib, since I have the K-H 105.

I have replaced my mast head windvane years ago in favor of shroud and sail tell tails. Looking into a bright sky/sun is not good for your vision.

I went with the shroud mounted ones set them up about 7ft up from the deck can remove when I need to & no more straining the crap out of my neck looking up at the masthead all the time

Ditto.
I use the 150 Genny and don't have any serious interference issues. If I push them up as high as I can I have almost zero problems. If I leave them a little lower and have the full Genny out and sheeted in hard then it can "twist" the vane aft but it still works just fine.
