All,
Success! I got the 26s out today...got it wet, went out just on the 150% Genoa (Hey its a New to me boat, nephew was nervous enough!)
We will go out tomorrow in the morning. (Stockton Lake is supposed to Be VERY HOT tomorrow)
I had to fix the impeller on the little Mariner 5.5 Long Shaft that came with it. Fuel Filter, Spark Plug, grease and summer love at the Marine Engine Repair shop
So far...I have had to purchase:
150% genoa (Coastal...more expensive, but that was all that Sail Warehouse had) $790...OUCH.
Fenders ($25)
Boat Motor Repair ($120)
Throw Life Preserver $60
Boat Hook ($40)
Spreader Bracket Upgrade ($25?)
Power Wash,Orange Degreaser, Sponges and Wipe Down. ($50..?)
I have discovered that the Rudder is in humble shape. A gouge is in it, poor glassing remains....so we will see if it gets fixed, replaced or what.
(I wonder if I could get a Used 26s Rudder or IdaSailor available somewhere?)
I have decided to use Gray Trex Composite for my internal Boat 'woodwork' and will be making some shelving, dish holders and Plastic Mirrors.
It looks like Teak (when teak silvers out) and it is water/heat tolerant, doesnt gas off fumes.....
I have been wanting to use Trex for some other outdoor things for my wifes Horse Jumping Arena. But I think I want to do the Boat first...her horses have enough pretty things to tide them over.
So...success!
