Woot! 6+ knots!

Took her out today in some fresh winds (12kn? 15kn? can't read wind speed yet) with my brother, who is avid but new.
I kept the reef in her - couldn't bring myself to shake it out. It was quite gusty.
I kept checking the heel-meter. We never went past maybe 12 degrees, but it was up & down enough to keep me cautious. Scares the poop out of me when her bow gunwale looks like it's about to dive underwater.
Anyway, clearing 6 knots (technically, we peaked at 6.4 but I won't count the instant readings, sliding down a wave) made for a real milestone, and a great day of sailing!

You can't count the instant readings sliding down a wave?

there is one guy on here who will tell you that he can maintain 7 knots
CLOSE HAULED. I have to confess, I can't, but maybe we are just lesser mortals?

Believe me, it does. I did 6.8 knots in "Grog", a 97 26X. I sometimes have the windows under water, graet heeling. An d do not worry, it does not turn over

A knot just formed in my stomach, because now I'm going to have to try it.
This boat scares the poop out of me.
How far over do you guys heel? The manual says no more than 20-25 degrees. Man, I thought we were going to go over when were were at 15...

Scaring out poop is more comfortable than an enema!

Just make sure the Admiral's not trying to cook downstairs while you're doing this...

A Mac close hauled at 7 knots will slide slipping badly , unless it's been Delevied ( serious mods)
Instantaneous GPS readings that aren't held for 5-10 seconds probably dont mean much either

Ok, I don't see any PFD or tether on the gent - If he slipped he would be toast.

Was kind of a whacky video. My original reason for enjoying this was to watch somebody putting total faith in an autopilot.
Your right about being totally gone if either went overboard. Lake Ontario should be good for two hours of treading water - then it's Titanic time baby!

isn't it astonishing how those loose cockpit cushions totally upset the balance of the boat
if that was a 45 knot wind, I'm a Chinaman
