Question about floor in head on M model.

Hi this is for those who know about the actual construction.
There seems to be a few inches between the top of the water tank and the actual floor you walk on in the forward part of the boat. There appear to be fiberglass spacers between them.
Would it be possible to cut out the thin floor remove the spacers and set the floor directly ontop of the water tank and gain a few inches of headroom?
Thanks
Ixneigh

yes you could but it would only be slightly more than an inch, also water tank needs a couple layers of roving and mat for additional stiffening.spacers are just small wet rolls of roving rolled up tossed in various spots before bottom liner is set on upper ballast tank struct.not really worth the effort for an inch of headroom.

That's what I found too Ray...It had "sounded" deep in there.. It really wasn't..I looked.. I too considered the process ( work and time and cost) of lowering the porta potty. A Cheap and Dirty fix .. for me , was going to be a couple hours work.. a really nice job ....would have involved for me, no less than a couple days. I seldom use that device.. and the wife is 5' 0" and has No Problems..

Has anyone removed the shelf in the 26M head? I'd like to lower my composting toilet to deck level. The "head" room is acceptable now but would like to know if the effort to re-glass (if that's the solution) is worth it.
Thanks,
Bob

Bob: as was previously stated .. Its going to be IMHO.. a couple days effort to gain about and Inch.. 2 of us have opened that area up to have a look see and there just isn't a lot to be gained..
#1. I hate cutting fiberglass
#2. I hate working with epoxy in a small confined area..
I popped a T&B plastic knockout filler, into the hole and said..........screw it..

Hmmm. Well what did you find when you openned up the space? Would I be clear to remove the shelf completely then glassing in a level deck?

The problem is that under the shelf the hull starts to curve in towards the keel. You might be able to lower the shelf a little bit but you would also have to move the head closer to the center line of the boat. The purpose of the shelf is to provide a flat surface as close to the verticle part of the hull as possible.

Thanks Russell. That makes sense. I'll need to take a hard look at the real savings. I don't want to relocate the head much closer to centerline.

Yes, but only sitting room...only a leprechaun could take a standing pi$$ in there with either a 2 1/2 or 5 gal head

I think most guys would be more than willing to work a couple of days to gain an inch or so!
That said, is there anyone who has installed a Nature's Head composting toilet in their Mac 26M? If so, how has it worked out so far. How's the headroom?
thanks
