been wondering if a guy added fiberglass compartments to the front or back of his boat would he then have to have it inspected and reregistered? would it cost more to dock? etc....or would this be seen the same as tubing style swim deck or pulpit?

well hull , adding angle brackets work fine and all but it just seems unfinished and eventually leak. and lets face it 26x dont have much space soooo outer hull storage/cleat spot/sittin spot/extra anchor locker///// .....anyway if an extra foot will cause problems if im tellin dockmaster ive a 26' boat and he says noooooo its noooot or uscg or dnr.... thot id see if anyone had feedback b4 id go through the trouble....

Insurance, or registration might be one thing, but your boat is whatever length that the dock/harbormaster says it is. Good luck with that argument. Hope there is another harbor near by. :D

The Mac hull shape, particularly in the bow area, dates it from over 1000 feet away. Changing the entry angle of the leading edge of the bow to be more vertical would bring the design well into the new millenium (the "M" does stand for millenium after all). This would be a great add on mod of fibreglass, as being considered here, and would increase hull speed without increasing the overal length of the boat.

Just a thought. - Brian.

I know some people charge by the length of the boat. The M/X is actually 25'10" and therefore cheaper for some things.

We pay for our slip based on the slip, not the boat we stick into it. However, many transient slip prices are charge by the boat length.

Either way, I would argue my registration says 26'.

Still gets down to what the harbormaster says. You can wave a paper at him all you want and he can just point out to sea.
