This will be the First Annual (if it works) Scallywag Sail
All are welcome... (heck I just made this up to have another excuse to go sailing)
Destination: Wilmington, NC

Friday
- Launch from Snow Cut Wildlife ramp (200 Annie Drive, Carolina Beach)
- Head to Carolina Beach Inlet (Buoy 155)for some ocean sailing

upper Masonboro Island (sound side) area for cooking on the beach dinner.
We will set up grills in the sand, bring a main dish and a dish to share.
Saturday
- Head down and then up river to Wilmington (15 miles)
o There is a launch really close to Wilmington waterfront; Dram Tree Park (602 Surry St, Wilmington) has limited parking, for those who want to join the fleet on Saturday.
- Dock at City Dock (one next to Hilton Inn) or anchor if you wish.
o $1.25 per foot, $3.00 for electricity and water
o Dock master (910) 520-6875
- Tour Wilmington
o Train museum, trolley tour $12 per adult - $5 per 12 and under
*** NEW EDIT 6/20 ---> Dinner at a Dockside restaurant Elijahs
Sunday
- Head back to ramp at own pace
This is a GROUP EVENT... for anyone.... I will need to give the dockmaster a list of how many to expect... so please post here if you wish to be included. I will then contact the Dockmaster and make reservations for everyone involved.
This is a North Carolina Sailors Pick Up Sailing Event. This means each Captain is solely responsible for the safety of the Captain, the Captain’s Boat and the Captain’s Crew.
Thanks... looking forward to fair winds and new friends...

Can't make it this year Erik. But we are going to be in New Bern May 12-19 looking for a vacation home in Fairfield Harbour or Oriental. Maybe we can make it in 2013

Hey Erik,
The wife and I have not had the pleasure of sailing with any of you yet but we are looking forward to it and feel this would be the perfect oppertunity. If those dates are set then you can count on us being there. We have sailed to Willmington and have eaten at a restaraunt there but will need to check the name as I don't remember it. It does have limited docking though and is right on the water front.
Do we need to call the dockmaster and make our own arrangements?

That sounds like a great idea. I would deff be in if not for two things. My boat is in the middle of a refit/restoration, second, I wont be back in the US till Aug, and have to immediately move to SC. Damn!!! But if there is a second one count me in. Any thoughts of doing something like a treasure hunt/geo cache event? That might be fun to do at the beach landing/dinner.

The dates are set... barring an approaching hurricane.
Once I get the list together of who will be docking I will submit a list to the dockmaster. He said we should have plenty of room for 15-20 boats. Any last minute boats can contact the dockmaster directly.
I would love to do a treasure hunt, but I am not familar with the area... so may do that at next years 2nd Annual Scallywag Sail (if this works...

)
I would still like to get suggestions on any of the waterfront restaurants in Wilmington, as I am not familar with them either. But we should be within walking distance from the Hilton Docks.

Any of you scurvy feel like heading back to MB Sunday, instead of back to the hill, the Admiral, boxer, and I will airing out our sails for at least a couple more days. Sunday will be our first sunrise afloat, and I have the whole week off. The wifie will have to work the holiday and I hope to pick up a deckhand or 2 during the week.
I plan to take my own

out Sat night at a very leasurely pace. I will be available Friday for anyone who could use any help at the ramp, if there should be anything unforseen should occur,...etc. Anyone feel free to pm me for my cell # if even just as a precaution. As for local info, I see Opie will be attending. He may not know everything, but compared to me he does.
I'll probably see you fine folks Friday morning on land regardless. No finer way to start a vacation than checking out the Mac armada!

I have used CB Wildlife ramp several times. It was recently improved. It is an impolite place on summer weekends, but maybe only polite people will be there Friday morning. There is trailer-truck parking and truck/car parking, but NO unattached trailer parking. And a $240 fine if you put a truck/trailer in a truck/car place. The last time I used it I had to exit north as soon as I get wet, as backing up to the east led to shoal water. Maybe that has been fixed. Ask the locals there when you use the ramp.
