hull number/sail number? should they match?

i crawled in to my boat to check the hull# first time. it is 703 and i have #880 on my sails. that means my main is not the original one and it is very old. am i right? (looks and feel old as well).

You can't draw any conclusions from hull and sail numbering. Hulls and sails are made in to different places, and sails can be ordered numbered as desired by owner

Catigale is right. My hull # and Sail # were the same when I bought the boat. Factory matched them up at that time. Now my sail number 57806 which is issued by USYRU for ocean racing. Really doesn't make a lot of difference as long as sails fit. What size, model and year do you have. ie. Venture, Mac 21, 22, 25 etc.
