New Dry-Flush (brand) toilet.

I am planning a toilet install and I stumbled upon this site today : http://www.dry-flush.com , apparently this product was only introduced late last year. It doesn't fit everyones requirements, but for weekend cruisers this may be perfect, as you don't discuss toilet habits in-depth with non-boating guests.

It encapsulates the liquid and solid waste material in a specially produced continuous bag that is lined to 'eliminate' odor.

Any one using this in the Mac community? The Admiral wants a toilet onboard.

That looks cool. Little Guy Trailers is a distributor - I bought a Teardrop trailer from them a year or so ago.

My only trepidation would be if you buy this thing, and they go out of business, then what do you do?

The refills are a 3 pack for $60. So that's about $1.18 per use. Kinda pricey, but maybe better than dealing with dumping a porta-potti.

"Diaper Genie" *snigger* , They claim that a patented aluminized coating controls odor, I have a query into them, I will update if I continue on this path.

If you cruise for weeks at time this isn't likely your solution. For occasional weekenders it may be just right...what appeals to me is that I don't need to place restrictions on guests. I am in AZ and I have two questions , if I only get out every third week, and it takes a few months to fill, will it stay under control odorifically? And what about the heat? Also does the foil up my radar profile????

It's also 20" deep, not sure it will fit, but I like the idea. On an extended cruise, you can just pack more refill packs. But if it were to malfunction, you may be up a creek.

These kind of purchases in the end are a crap shoot! The Admiral will be p*ssed if this product doesn't work well. If it is out of ordure, i am guano have to look for other solutions!

There is a story about an older 727 airliner that physically lost most of one of its aft located engines, the aircraft landed safely at a nearby airport with no injuries after the incident. The subsequent investigation found main turbine wheel failure which was catastrophic and disintegrated the engine. Looking for root cause, there was a blue discoloration on some of the blade debris. This led the investigators to look for this mysterious blue material. This eventually pointed to the lavs on the aircraft. It seems that the forward lav had a waste retention tank that was leaking at a fitting. This leaked through a forward hatch and concentrated on the fuselage in ice form because of the low temperatures at altitude. The accident findings were concise: the Sh*t hit the whirling blades.

We notice the same for the Double Doodie bags. After 3 weeks or so they start to smell. We keep them in a 5 gallon bucket and with the lid snapped on you can't smell them but do when you add a new "full" bag to the container. They are a solution to the same problem at less initial cost than buying a head. If you only use a bag once then there is no smell but it costs about $1.50 for a bag. We use them for about 3 days so now it is about 25 cents a usage, but you will smell the bag when you take the lid off the john to use it but the smell is gone once the lid goes back on.

We like them and it is possible for us to haul 2 months of waste in two 5 gallon buckets that cost about $3-$4 with lids and we then throw the whole bucket away. One thing we like is that the seat is full size. We just bought a new head, over $400, for the Endeavour to use with the holding tank and the seat isn't as comfortable...



...as the head in the Mac. I first learned of the bags on this site and was skeptical but now am a firm believer and we will have them onboard the Endeavour to use if/when the holding tank is full. More on their use here...

Nothing to go wrong with the bags and you can get them at most Walmarts and can be used in a porta-pottie and taken along to use if it fills,

Sumner yes, I spoke with the manufacturer today. The claim is that the patented coating controls odor, I agree...we'll see. Summer is coming here in AZ, it will be a real test. They also said they are developing a smaller cartridge. They claim current one is good for 15-17 uses. The smaller one will be for people who don't want the material in there for long periods.

I've ordered one and I will report.

We installed a dry-flush in our . So far it's been great. No smells, even when the boat hasn't been used for a couple of months and the unit is still...ummm..."loaded". That was a purposeful test btw!

How's the fit in an with the stepped shelf? I'm 6'1" and their website doesn't show any dimensions. Sear's web site list it as having a depth of 20" and height 18"
