TOW BEAST

Here's my strange tow beast. Unknown age, can barely make out what I think says "Wheman Power Buggy" on the side. Powered by a 5hp Wisconson, rope-pull start. Has 6 wheels, stand-up, rear steering. It's only 3 ft wide by 7 ft long, and seems to have a capacity of about 1200 lbs.

This is my alternate tow beast. 1982 GMC S15. 5.0 V8, 4-speed auto, over-load springs, air shocks.

I hope that beast has good breaks. Could be a comical moment at the ramp otherwise.

It's a "Whiteman Power Buggy". They primarily made concrete moving equipment, but also made various devices for moving industrial equipment. You seem to have one of the latter, and it appears to be a model from the mid-50's.

your going to be terribly disappointed with that 4.3 V-6 towing. I spent many hours with mine floor boarded down in 3rd gear at 35mph climbing from phoenix to flagstaff. Its barely big enough to move the vehicle.

Seemed to do the hills okay the other day. Well,l only payed 2 k for it , so I will just have to see how she does. Wonder if the factory towing package it came with will help out a bit. Its 2,000 lbs towing without the package and 5,000 lbs with it.
I cant believe she would tow less well than my Buick Lesabre that towed me thousands of miles with no problem.

Smart - probably gets better mileage than my 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee too.

Technology amazes me
That 2001 Blazer has a 4.3 V6 that only puts out 190hp and 250 torque at 2800rpm
You can get a 2.0 4cyl that put out 264hp and 270 torque at 1750rpm now with AWD lock so no spinning tires
Means a 2.0 4cyl, less than half the cc of the 2001 blazer, has more oomph to get the job done and far more fuel efficient than the 4.3 V6
Amazing...

We just upgraded my 2000 Dodge Dakota pickup (and my wife's Minvan) to a 2013 Ford 350 XLT.... Great for towing.....but still getting used to backing it down the ramp blind!

My Highlander has a backup cam. Works really well for visibility backing down the ramp.

We have a back-up cam too, and it works great backing up to the trailer...but going downall it sees is my bow.

The Blazer has back up mirrors, I have always used back up mirrors so there is no problem there. I have more horse power and more torque at lower RPM's than the Buick did so I think I will be satisfied with my ....already....fully payed for vehicle.

Backup cameras are pretty inexpensive.

I used my camera yesterday backing my jet ski trailer down the ramp. I can't see the trailer well and the camera really helped. It's absolutely fantastic at aligning the hitch.
Nice tow beast. Nice choice of color too.
