Free Inmon roller reefer

I've got an Inmon roller reefer I purchased used and never installed. I'm using Seahouse's boom roller gooseneck so I'm not going to put it on, and the Admiral wants me to get it out of the garage.

If you're in So Cal and want to pick it up, PM me, or we can take it to the east coast and hand it off to anyone whose going to the MUCK-About.

Be warned however: In return for accepting it you must provide me with photos of it installed and in use on your boat. No taking it and not using it or re-selling it separately from your boat allowed.

I believe it's complete except for the mast mounting hardware.

What attachments are there to the boom? I am interested but value being able to disconnect the boom easily for trailering (I currently only need to open up the mast gate and pop out the slugs (SAIL SLUGS  )

Hi Robert--There's a J-hook on the clew end that connects to the backplate of the boom. Something is supposed to happen at the mast that I don't have correct hardware for--what the reefer has is a wire rope eyelet. Probably just a bail with ah shackle?

It's trailering complexity that prevented me from implementing it.

Hi my name is Bob I live in Palm Springs area and I am rerigging and
refurbishing my 2001 Mac26.
I'm 78 years and need all the help I can get when
sailing. If you still have the boom I would love to have it.
By the way how effective is the Seahouse Boom Mod and how do you compare it
to Inmon's Roller System?
Thanks Bob Wilkie xxx-xxx-xxxx
Ps this is the first time I have tried to do this sorry if I am doing it wrong.

My understanding from previous threads with Mike Inmon involved, is that the roller system will not work on an X. Something to do with different geometries between the mast and boom.

Right, that's correct. I knew I'd seen something about this.

I think I am begining to understand how this all works, sorry for my confusion.
Yes the roller boom will only work on a 26m. the reason is the mast is straight and the main sail is cut differently. The 26X mast is curved aft and sail is the wrong shape and could not roll up.
My 26X had been in a collision on the Sea of Cortez and dismasted . The mast, boom, rigging, rudders were all missing. I aquired a mast and boom from an other Mac and got every thing I needed from BWY.
I spoke with Mike at the factory and got the info how to mod the 26x to work as a 26M. He has done this for customers in the past . With his input I am reconfigering my 26x as a 26m. My new mast will work fine with BWY rotating mast foot and spreaders and shrouds.
There are two options.
1. The the upper and lower shrouds should be moved moved 8 inches astern of their normal position and then the rear stay is not needed, just like the 26M,
or
2. don't move the shrouds and keep the rear stay loose.
I am thinking of fabricating a swivel attachment at the top of the mast which would permit the rear stay to be tensioned and the mast would rotate normally.
There is some discussion of this in the Mods Section.
I hope this clears up the X--M confusion.
I have been working on this project for some time and planned to tell my story, which is very interesting, when I got the Suki San in the water.
It is very hard to find info on our boats. This forum has been treasure trove for me and I thank all the past and present members for their help and advice.
Bob.

Ps I would still like to get the roller boom. I live in Palm Springs so I can drive down to Cadiff on the Sea anytime.

In this case I retract my request for the furler.
But I´d love to hear your story, Bob!
