My first U-Tube vid - I still have not been able to figure out how to do Hi Def like Beene can, but at least I got on U-Tube? Is it working?
I snuck out on Saturday at the last minute cuz the water was so flat, the wind was about ten knots, the sun was sunny, the air was warm, and the ocean was sparkly.
Boat cruzed a little bitty 15 degree angle at 6 knots almost the whole day;

Wow - 500 foot depth! I don't recall seeing anything over 80 feet in recent memory. How far offshore do you need to be to see 500' there?

Looks nice - once you have established the 6 knots, show the boat and water more.

If you look closely at the screen of the chartplotter (sorry - hard to read because of my poor camera skills) you will see my location right at the 3 mile limit line - we usually head straight out till we pass the three mile line and we got there in a flash that day. As for the depth, again - if you look at the chartplotter (especially the last few frames) you can see that I am almost right on the continental shelf and the depth is going to drop dramatically to 1100 feet according to the chart and in just another mile past that I will be in water 2600 feet deep.
The sea was incredibly calm - buoy data said 2 foot but to me it seemed there was no swell at all. Wind straight due west at 10 knots and steady. It would have been a perfect day to make Catalina and make anchor but I had to get back to work and there is no decent wireless access on Catalina, (or I could have just brought my computer and kept going).

Those were shot with an iphone - I had a contour on board too but it's currently set up for wide angle action shots and would not be good for a screen shot of the chartplotter, so I grabbed the iphone.
There were a lot of dolphins too - but the dang iphone and the contour (which is just like a gopro) has no zoom so I could not get good shots for video. We tried chasing the dolphins but they were just too darn fast.
I will try to get underwater picture of the dolphins with the contour next time.
