Anyone who is interested in joining some other Tampa Area Sailors for a 1-2 day outing sometime during the week of March 21-28, please click the "email" button below and let me know. Possibilities could be anything from a day sail in Tampa Bay to a coastal beach cruise on Florida's West Coast. Just trying to see if there is any interest as I plan to be sailing during some of that week.

We live NE of Orlando. Maybe we'll see you out there sometime. We just did a 13 day cruise from Labelle FL down the west coast to Long Key and up the east coast to Stuart. Back thru the Okeechobee waterway across Lake Okeechobee to Labelle. Great trip...needs at least a month to 6 weeks to really enjoy. Maybe next time.

My boat, 26M, Sea Horse, and I live in the Ft. Myers area. How about putting together a "Florida West Coast" sailing group? :macm: George Iber

Add me on...a few days here and there would be great...pennsicola or Panama City would be better but life aint that easy sometimes. Also, Hello again.

Since folks are still posting to this 2+ year old thread, let me just say a couple things:

1. Welcome to the Tampa area! There are a lot of sailors down here including a fair amount of Mac's. However, my observations are that most people are very laid back and don't organize much. For example in California, seems like folks are always organizing group events (who would have thunk that left coasters are better organized  ). There are some non Mac sailing groups down here that are pretty active, lots of racing and cruising events that come out of the various Yacht clubs (DIYC, SPYC, etc.), but I have yet to see a Mac group properly organize here. If you want to head down to Miami, there is a better organized Mac group down there that seems to be fairly active.

2. Due to the time constraints of my work and family, I just don't have the time to be a lead organizer for a FL West coast group. I tried for a while when I first got my Mac, but it is unrealistic in my situation. So this is a call for someone else in this area to try to put together a group, maybe someone who is retired and has a lot more time than I do. I will certainly be a willing participant and I like any excuse to go sailing. For me, the Gulf is about a 30 mile trip so I mostly sail in the Bay, however, I like to go out to the Gulf when I can do at least 1 or 2 nights on the boat. I like both cruising and racing and have previously suggested doing a one-design (Mac obviously) Bay race sometime. Would be nice to do a race near St. Petersburg and then spend a couple days cruising the beautiful Gulf beaches afterwards. I'll bet there are some Northerners who would be willing to do that this time of year. SW Florida is quite a lot closer than the keys (especially for those coming down I-75 - about 6-8 hours less time on the road) and we have superior beaches for the kiddies.

Anybody have the time and inclination to be a Tampa group leader?

Does anyone have the website for the B.E.E.R crusing club? It's not as bad as it sounds. It stands for something like Backwater Enviromental Escape Rendezvous...or something. I think last year they had over 50 boats ready to go and its in the Panhandle area of Florida. Sounded like a lot of trailersailors and several Macs too. Might be a good one to go with on their next outing. I lost the site when my computer crashed.

Thanks Magdaddy..that's the one I was looking for.

Zandramadas....check with the people at the B.E.E.R. site ..they must sail together more often than this one time. Looks like a family affair. I hope to drag Jim away from the shop long enough to make this one.
