We are bringing our 26x over from states, do most people use the existing trailer or do people think it best to buy new here? modifications are required for the original any idea around cost to get these completed.
We are located in Brisbane.

Hi Iway,
It is definitely better to have a trailer made here and its very hard to stay legal on the stock trailer, but they are very expensive here..

Hi, I'm a bit confused about this whole trailer thing, I imported my

from the States 18 months ago on the original trailer, I immediately stripped off the factory lights and plugged in a light board and hung it off the boat, I drove it straight to a trailer road worthy agent in Maroochydore who tested the brakes and checked tyres etc. It passed and I drove it two doors down to Qld transport who inspected the label and measured the trailer, they registered it there on the spot. I have driven the boat on that trailer maybe 50 times now and an estimated 1500klm's, the trailer is fine, it is serviceable and needs no modifications for standard home to boat ramp duty, in my case a 26klm trip each way. If I had money to spare I would upgrade the brakes, sand blast it and hot dip galvanise it but none of that is critical. Out of curiosity, if you dont import the trailer how do you intend to get it here? Because it was on its trailer I got mine here on a roll on roll off ship, no hassles. I tell you what, bring it in on it's trailer, buy an Australian trailer and I will buy your old trailer for a fair price, that will give me a spare that I can galvanise at my leisure because I just dont see whats so bad with them.
Cheers Dennis.

Well the main problem with the trailer as far as I see it, is its 1905kg weight limit. Try keeping an M under that! I took everything out of mine that isn't bolted in and got 1960kgs. Mind you I did have three 20kg batteries in it (now have two,, but have added other stuff...)
The trailer itself is great for anyone who has to move the boat around a tight yard - much easier with the single axel - and guys on here have done many 1000s of ks. I do worry about how the wheels angle outwards though and have had a guy at a servo comment on how scary it looks. I cant work out why that is, but assume the axel must flex a bit ?? That can't be too good on
tyres....
Also, you can't get spare parts for them in oz which is a pain. I was going to put new rotors on and they were going to cost a heap to get from the states. Any trailer made in Oz will use standard parts available in any town.
Hoping to do the Whitsundays next year, so that is going to be a great test for it I reckon....

Hmmmm, I really want to see an

trailer now, mine is the older steel trailer and definitely does not flex or wheels camber out under load? Perhaps it is the alloy trailers? Maybe that's why I dont get it, hmmmm, maybe I should take better care of my steel trailer, I suspect it is more robust but I have to admit I haven't seen the newer trailers up close. All I know is my trailer is quite suitable for my boat, I would nt hesitate towing it to Mackay, just need a bigger tow car than I have.
