What is the "snout" on this Mac 26M boat cover for?

I purchased this boat cover from Sail Warehouse:

Pic at the bottom. What is the purpose of the 'snout' that is at the front of the cover? the mast attaches to the front rail pulpit and ends there. What is supposed to slide in to this small tube area? For me it just hangs down limp. The reason I ask is because the cover is only slightly loose and if it rains it collects in the cover and sags the cover. Perhaps if something is supposed to go in this area it'll help stretch it out?
thanks

I believe it's for a roller furler. If you did, when the mast is attached to the pulpit, the furler will extend beyond the mast. This is not the best picture for showing what I mean, but I think it works well enough. Do you see how the furler extends beyond Nice Afts bow

I believe Ray is correct. If you lower the mast with the furler connected it sticks out past the mast about as far as it shows in the pic.

Mine does the same thing....and it is for the furler.... it fills it up pretty good , but leaves some wiggle room

When ordering the cover one can decide to get it with or without the "nose". The extension is to cover the overhang of the furler, if you don't use a furler you can order the cover without the extension (at least that was the case when I got mine in 2012).

Ray is correct. I have the same cover on my

. The snout is for the roller furler.
Here's a pic of my boat with the furler in the snout.

I undo the forestay at the hound and slide it back before covering. Also before trailering.

Thank you all very much. When I bought my used M recently the roller furler is not attached to the mast at the bottom. Now i know. Thanks to you all .
Does anyone else have issues with water collecting in the cover? Maybe bc I use bungees and should use straps? Or do even those with straps still have a problem with rainwater causing an inward collapse between stowed mast and the stanchon wires?

That's normal. Just be glad you don't get snow

Go back and take a good look at the photo I previously posted.
Some members took PVC tubing and bent them to create a support frame for the tarp. I tried it, and it worked for a couple of years, but I just did not believe it was worth the hassle.
Try doing a search under PVC. This is what I quickly came up with.
