I am replacing my 9 year old steel 26M trailer and the trailer manufacturer has offered me a similar trailer to the original with either rollers or bunks ( skids ).
Has anyone used a trailer with rollers to carry their MacGregor ?
Which is better, the cost is similar for both, the new trailer comes with tandem axil.

For what it's worth, the boat and trailer were engineered for each other from the start.
If you were look in the bilge area where the boat rides on the factory bunks, you would notice extra layers of FG build up for extra strength at those contact points.
For me, that ends the debate between random rollers/bunk versus "CORRECTLY PLACED" Bunks (at least as the minimum), whoever makes the trailer.

If the new bunks won't be placed under the hull where the factory intended them to be, then I guess it doesn't matter between the two choices, although rollers will most assuredly solve a problem that doesn't really exist with launching and loading a Mac, IHMO.

The boat is reinforced where needed to sit on the stock trailer.
The boat will slide right off the trailervIf You use some dry silicone lubricant on the carpet first.
It also helps when doing the mack-bump

It's a float-on, float-off design, so rollers aren't needed. And they would put point loads on locations not designed for them. I'd stick with the original arrangement, and bunks are easy to repair/replace, which is another good feature.

Just for our point of reference, if you don't mind me asking, what is the price of the new trailer?

The new manufactured trailer to suit a 26M cost $6600 Australian Dollars.

The trailer has 4 wheels, LED lights, 4 guide posts, spare wheel, gal steel, mechanical brakes, otherwise the same as the old steel MacGregor trailer.
