Does any of you Macmen have experience with a Victory brand of spreader lights. Recently acquired these on Ebay only to find, although they were new in a box, there are no wires nor any terminals to install wiring. Help!

Open it up. Somewhere you will have to find a way of running a wire through the base.

What boat? On the 26M, you'll find the spreader hound doesn't attach directly to the mast, making running the wires through the spreaders themselves somewhat pointless as you'll have to drill an exit and then an entrance into the mast with enough give to allow mast rotation. And with the mast raising and lowering on these boats, I'd go for less complication rather than more.

Clamp-on rod holder with a solar garden light on the cabin front stanchions is about as complicated as I'd go.

Thanks for comments. The lights are totally encapsulated with vinyl, the lights are held in with a 4" O-ring which I removed but find it impossible to remove the bulb (wont unscrew nor can I pull out), Beffudled.

Doesn`t make sense that they have no power entry.

I suppose they could be one half of an inductive light package like these http://www.bgbinnovation.com/informatio ... ystems.htm. Doesn`t really make sense for spreader lights though.

If so, my guess is this is what the halogen bulb would look like:

It should pop out once the retaining ring is removed.

The listing says G4 bulb, which is a tiny little thing. Could be that the lens pops out to reveal the bulb underneath. But it sure does look like a sealed unit.

Mastreb is right - the spreaders flop around all over the place during trailer launching and are not really any good for mounting anything. They are not even very high up - and the main sail will touch them.

mounted them on this brkt , The top light shines on the bowsprit , the lower light shines on the foredeck , the 2 side lights shine on the deck & water on S/B & Port sides

'Weight Aloft' is not something that Highlander usually need to worry about but for the rest of us mortals i really recommend keeping a little as possible up there. The Highlander has a lot more ballast than the average boat. What was the reason rick retiree wanted spreader lights?

Yes, I read that your lights were LED - very lightweight, but I think he was using the same flood lights that most other boats have and yet you of all people CAN hoist 15 pounds of copper wire and halogen flood lights up on the spreaders but for the rest of us I would not recommend it. Even the Highlander is using lightweight LEDs - so I was wondering why he wanted big high powered halogens up there. Is he fishing at night?
