Scenes from another great weekend on the boat.
As an added bonus you get to see our secret family master chef style recipe for boat pancakes.

Episode 2, now uploading will be filled with more "exciting scenes" such as, cooking a hamburger, watching a pelican, rowing a dinghy, and even, some nutjob walking on the beach talking to himself about nothing for 2 hours...
Actually the most exciting scene in part 2 is when I passed a Spanish Caravel which made me think it must have been a left over from the recent Pirates of the Caribbean movie they just made here, but after a bit of research I realized it was this pleasantly crazy couple

Excellent video. So much fun to watch. What was that bird on top of your mast. Hope it didn't drop anything.

The link at the bottom seems to be incomplete.

Thanks Russ, choc up another great weekend in the Mac 8)

The link was to an article about this 1480s Caravel that I passed (in the second video)
https://www.google.com.au/search?q=Noto ... 5&dpr=1.75

Basically, some possibly slightly crazy, but very skilful man, had a bunch of logs next to his property, and decided that he would design and build himself a 1400s Spanish Caravel out of them :o Then he and his wife decided to take it sailing about 5 years ago, and are regularly spotted up and down the East Coast of Australia.

Birds on the mast are butcher birds, very common around here, most famous for their amazing song, but they also enjoy imitating other birds for fun

Yeah even I was surprised I had over 6 knots(across the tide in that shot) in those light winds, especially considering she wasn't exactly trimmed too well there...

I saw you the Monday prior to that tacking like a madman up the channel towards Cabbage Tree Point boatramp....great work!

I was the Mac X coming past you...

:D That was you - I thought that was Kookasnook. That was the Monday from the second video and I'd just come from the Pin then. I'd just run out of camera battery before that, otherwise the mad tack and you would be on the video. :) I don't normally bother tacking up narrow channels like that but kind of left it too late to put the main away as I was coming up near Horizon shores when I got it on the nose.

Where had you been for the weekend then - out on the bay I assume?

Great vids Paul,

I'm curious about a couple of things?
  • Your hook pole is hanging on the safety wire ... What are those hangers called and where do I buy them?
When you guys went to the beach why didn't you beach you Mac?... Falling tide? ... Or is it too much hassle?
It's great to see how others manage their Mac

Best regards.

Okay, you've convinced me, I'm moving to Australia.
What a great video. Even makes Spam for breakfast look good. And what is with all those giant spiders on the beach? Winters are rough down there I see.

I like the Google Earth usage. Now that Google Earth Pro is free it really makes creating mp4 files simple.

Yep, spent the night at Lazarette Gutter with brekkie bacon and eggs at Horseshoe Bay - had an awesome sail up the day before and a "slowboat to China" motor back.

Neo,

Its our extendable boat hook, which I have made a bit longer and also use as a light duty jib pole. I just had a look in the whitworths catalogue and couldn't see them but the hangers are available at whitworths. This is them here:
http://www.unitedyachting.com/pole_hold ... _lines.htm
It is a very handy place to store the boathook.

As to beaching, we do most of the time, but where we were in that first vid in Southport, I prefer to leave her out away from the beach there. All sorts of people go by there and drunks at night on the beach sometimes. Its also a pretty steep beach there.

Up the Pin, I regularly beach her, but I had my plans to leave at a certain time that morning as I had to be home in time to pick the kids up from school  Usually we tow our hard dinghy in home waters, but we knew we were going outside on that weekend, and we don't tow a dinghy out in the ocean, so its handier just having the inflatable ready in the stern berth.

Russ, no problems, we have plenty of room for another Mac owner :) Those funny spider looking things are "soldier crabs" which cover many of the drying sand flats in this part of the world at low tide. They hang in massive groups known as,,,, wait for it,,,,,, "armies" who'd have thought eh  They sound scary but are actually harmless cute little fellows and can be very impressive when they are in their thousands.
Heres a small company getting ready for battle with my last boat
