Replaced running light bulbs
Ordered these bulbs from amazon and put them in the front and rear running lights. They appear to be about twice as bright as the old bulbs. They may even be brighter than that. When you have to move after dark we want everyone to see us. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0045 ... UTF8&psc=1 We of course are moving fast as we have a

That's the bulb I bought. VERY Bright.
Here is is side by side with OEM incandescent. Can't photo it direct on the LEDs or it blinds the camera, so you can see the light "shadow" is much larger with the LED. And it doesn't burn your finger to touch it.

Re: Replaced running light bulbs
There are no protrusions on the bulb. It fits my 2003 26X which has the lights where you push on the bottom of the fixture to get them open. The original bulbs have a pointed end as you can see in the picture above. The led does not but it will fit perfectly anyway.

OK. I just ordered them. This site always encourages me to spend money...
My original incandescent bulbs are 10 years old anyway, probably time to replace them, right?

Re: Replaced running light bulbs
The running lights use "festoon" bulbs which have contacts on opposite ends. They "pinch" between the upper/lower contacts. There is a lot of forgiveness in the fixture. You can bend the contacts to increase spring tension. Very simple design.ris wrote:There are no protrusions on the bulb. Re: Replaced running light bulbs
You can always solder the new LED's in to eliminate corrosion/connection issues.

Re: Replaced running light bulbs
Is there a mast anchor light fixture located on the top available for a 2000X? My used Mac came with an open top mast and I'd like to install a fixture with this LED light.

Good idea...didn't think of that! I use dielectric compound/grease on all bulb connections.grady wrote:You can always solder the new LED's in to eliminate corrosion/connection issues.

I made an aluminum angle mount and put an anchor light on top of my mast . Then ran a wire down the mast and out the base to plug in where the mid mast light plugs in .
Worked good for a few days and quit . The mast stayed up for three years , three years of no anchor light . When I finally took the mast down , the bulb had gotten a little corrosion and made a bad connection
