Venture 224 thru haul fitting

Post by sail newbie »

Fitting is under port seat and is thru haul and plugged off, looks like a factory plug, what is it? It looks to be under the water line.

Ok I now have a another one, thru hull fitting that is plugged off. It's on starboard side under galley seat beside swing keel. I think it's a scupper valve or at least supposed to be. If it is a scupper and broke I would have a 1 1/2" hole filling the cabin right?

yep - as kmclemore said.

We removed our thru-hull and I glassed the hole over.
I incorporated a catch jug in our sliding galley that can easily be dumped.

Don''t miss the galley hose or the obstruction in the storage locker.

Its one worry removed - plastic thru-hulls (especially really old ones)
inside storage lockers can be a serious hazard.

No idea what that might be - any chance its the keel pivot bolt? Sounds like the location.
A link to a picture would go along way....

It goes through the bottom of the hull? Maybe it us d to be a depth sounder or fish finder??

It may be a depth or speed gauge. I found another just behind the step down into the galley that's also a thru haul with a antena looking wire coming out of if, trying to figure out how to send pics. Thanks for your replies

Sounds like some one got a new drill for Christmas. :P Venture 224 did not have any thru hull fittings from factory except for drain hole in cockpit where keel cable comes up, keel pivot bolt and keel lock bolt in keel trunk. V24 did not come with built in galley. Venture 25 came with PITA built in "galley" with a plastic jug to catch water. I cut it out with an angle grinder and glassed it in. Now looks like V24. Mac25 came with optional sliding galley. Only thru hull on V25 out of factory is drain hole for cockpit in stern and cable for keel winch. What year is your boat? Curious. As mentioned, pics would help. Fair Winds and Full Sails...Old Salt.
