Cabin Cushion Replacement

Hi All,

I'm replacing the original cushions on my Mac 26X with a burgundy sunbrella fabric. The results so far are amazing. I'll post pics for the community when finished. Only one problem: I forgot to take measurements on the little cushion on the port side aft of the galley over the battery hatch. My boat is still in storage for a few more weeks here in Chicago and I do not yet have access. Any 26X owners out there who might put a tape measure to this cushion for me? I'm thinking it's about 18 x 15, but guessing is always costly.

Thanks all, and happy sailing!

Just measured mine in the basement and its 19" x 19". Foam might be about 1/2" bigger than that. Boat is a 98. The top is the side against the hull

I, for one, am looking forward to seeing the end results.

Late to the game but I confirm 19x19 on a 2002 X. One corner is rounded off slightly to match the rounded corner of the fiberglass seat.

:macx: Thank you all for dimensions. I'm trying to figure out how to upload a pic of the project. Will post one soon.

Go to http://www.tinypic.com, click the Choose File button, find the photo you want to upload, click on it to highlight it, click 'Open' to close that screen, then click the big green Upload Now! button to upload the photo. It might pop up a 'security' question window, which it does on every other upload these days, then highlight and copy the second url it returns (img code for forums and message boards).

Paste the link directly into you post. Leave a space before and after for readability.

Click 'Quote' on this post to see what this photo looks like in the raw.

Still a work in progress since I'll have to build some straps for the seat backs. A guy at the Miami boat show quoted me $1,400 for the whole job. Instead the wife and I did the job. All materials were bought online, foamfactory.com and amazon for the sunbrella fabric for around $400. Next are the cockpit cushions, sunbrella with white piping.

Hi Yatch owners. What type of thread do you use for cushions? Freedom is 40 years old this year and the cushions, or what's left of them, are showing their age, like the rest of us. What type sewing machine are you using? I have a 1947, year I was born, white portable which will sew through four thickness of levi denim. Fair winds and full sails...Old Salt.

A very nice combination. I did solid, and later realized how rich white piping would look. I don't have any complaints with my results. You will be pleased with the end product.
