Raymarine EV-100 p70 Wheel Pilot Pack, yay or nay?

I am looking at one of these presently, wanted to know if you have one, are you happy with it, would you recommend it and or purchase it again if you had the need.

Secondly, how hard is it to install? I did see and thread and link in here by mastreb? It had some great pictures and his summary of installation. It sounded like from what I read that this installation can be somewhat difficult. I did read some terms about the types of connections that were foreign to me but this kind of work doesn't scare me, I have tackled tough projects before but never on a boat with something like this.

Any replies, comments etc would be appreciated!

Very happy with mine. The installation is not too difficult if you plan things out ahead. The connections only need adapting if you're tying into some other type of backbone. Otherwise it all works on its own. I needed to buy 1 longer cable.

I would say "Yay". Happy with mine and not that difficult to fit. Mastreb's post basically covers it all with the instructions that come with the kit.

Install is fairly easy. Depending on your planned location for the components you may, like myself, need an additional longer cable. :?:
So far, its a Yay. :)

I just finished my installation and am looking forward to doing the setup, commissioning, and sea trial. The only additional part that I had to buy was the bulkhead fitting kit (part E15017) that provided a flange type bracket pin instead of the included round pedestal type bracket pin. I have a 2011 26M with a box type steering pedestal. Installation was really quite simple. I mounted the compass on the aft side of the head wall, in the stowage area under the forward dinette seat. I will also install the optional rudder reference transducer.

I installed this unit last year and added the Rudder Reference this year. I mounted the compass under the steps because I thought it would be better on the boat centerline, although I have moved my batteries from under the steps to under the rear table seat storage compartment to prevent interference. I cannot believe how well it holds a course as the line on my GPS is perfectly straight. You will be very happy with this installation.
