They would have to be the worst photoshopped pix I've ever seen. Makes me wonder if they've actually built any yet.

You do even not have to moove the mast...

It appears its the outfit that builds the potters. Thier 18 ft boat is certainly a departure from those. The 23 is not shown with a very big motor. I wonder if they decided not to go with high speed engine operation.

No really so many startups seem to go nowhere after making big statements, we are still waiting for the Tattoo 22 and then this comes along and stops dead.

Not sure sailors and designers make good business people. very few actually make it and last any period of time, but these last two seem not to of even got to much more than concept stage

Looks legit & like it will be a cool boat to me, they have been updating their progress consistently since last fall. I had a WWP 19 from international marine and have nothing negative to say about it.

That mast raising system is copied from the Telstar 28...and perhaps other boats in the past. The a-frame support idea has been used before and seems to work pretty well. Probably not a rotating mast.

The only video I found seems to infer that they didn't have one in the water yet. The only new boat sailing was their Malbec 18 ( don't drink while boating??) I was not impressed by the unfinished "chopper gun" cabin ceiling. But then again, I have come to accept it on my X.

Huh, I did not know the X boat had an unfinished chopper gun finish. All the boats I have seen have a liner. Is the liner in the MAC boats made from a chopper gun?

I think the reference is to the unfinished internals glass in the lockers etc.

Thats one for my long term jobs list, put a lick of paint on them to make her look a bit neater and stop the infernal itching when you accidentally rub your arm on it when you get something out of a locker

The liner does appear to me to just be the usual cheap chopper gun process I see on so many boat hulls today - that's why the liner is so brittle and cracks so easy - can't hold it's gel coat either. I don't know much about the liner - I did not see them pulling liners in the factory - I only saw them pull the hull and the deck for boat. Mike Inmon took me to the two bays where they were pulling the two main parts of the boat and he took me to the place where they make the permanent ballast - I did not get to see the liners getting made. I saw the guys spraying the resin onto the glass cloth making the cloth soaking wet and then they squeegeed out most of the resin they just sprayed on and flicked it onto big sheets of cardboard on the floor!! I said "Mike! They are putting more resin on the floor than they are in my boat!!" Mike said that was the only way to make the boat very strong and very light at the same time.

It's clear that every last bit of fiberglass resin was squeegeed out of the deck and hull as they built it - there is no strength in resin. It does nothing but crack and crumble without an interior structure, (thus would explain the fragile liner). The deck and hull on the other hand are made the right way - in carbon fiber they suck out every last bit of resin they can with giant vacuum bags. Resin is useless unless it's inside the substrate. It's just usless weight. I like the way they did the hull and deck on 'boat'

And the bottom of the sliding hatch. And part of the cabin wall in the head, the part that separates the cockpit from the head. The whole rest is shiny gel coated liner.

But no matter - the PO stuck velcro for curtains and framed photos or art all over the nice shiny interior, and that stuff has been on there so long, it takes days to get one port surround clean using noxious chemicals. But I digress.

The bottom of my sliding hatch is painted, sure its not pretty like the rest of the internals but no exposed fiberglass, and the head, well, hmmmm, the none gelcoat parts are painted the most hideous baby vomit yellow one could possibly imagine. dont know if that was the PO or the PO to the PO or the factory, but its disgraceful

As described in my sole contribution thus far to the Mods section, I shot a few cans of Pettit Z-Spar 105 Universal White Undercoat Spray Enamel (Item 756286) into the unfinished storage areas, and it brightened them all up very nicely indeed. I got the stuff on clearance for just a buck a can from Defender, but it looks like they're all out now, so it will run you more than 10 bucks elsewhere. Still, it's superb hard holding/hard wearing stuff, so if you're tired of peering into a dark hole that looks like a humpback whale's colon, it might be worth it. Like I said in my Mods writeup, this is "not your trailer-dwelling ex-brother-in-law's Wallyworld 99 cent tagger spew."
