Victor asked about the cabling in the aft berth overhead. Here's ours:



The cabling that goes over to the side, through a cable clamp up high, and to the motor is the throttle and shift cables and motor wiring:



The cable that hangs down low, and has an owner installed pedestal power wire and transducer cabled-tied to it is the original Mac steering cable. Here's where it goes through at the motorwell:



If the steering cable was longer, I could get it over to a cable clamp on the aft end of the access panel and raise it up. Despite warnings about nothing sticking to the Mac gelcoat, I might try some cable-tie bases to get that cable higher. Also may try some string, etc to the motor cables to try to pull it up.

Perhaps others have some alternative routing.

Trade name for the small square "bases " to hold whatever, with cable ties , will not stick for long, to high gloss fiberglass and sorry to say many other surfaces. However Crazy Glue Jell and or numerous types of silicon "adhesives" do enable long term usage . WE also scuff the glass or excepting surface. . . . . with a scotch-brite pad.

Moe, it looks like your motor cables have too much 'bend' in them. I can't really tell, but mine sweep round as gently as possible and cancel out the aft berth for better storage, and of course, for trying to get a snooze.

What's the best thing/stuff for weather fitting the cables and chords as they exit the interior and come out onto the weather deck.

Ours would be neater but I ran out of Duct tape

Anyone: Is there supposed to be a boot where the cables pass through the deck into the pedestal? I don't have one and I believe I'm getting some rain water passing through. Not good when you live in a Rain Forest and average 190 inches in a year!!!

Wow, what utilitarian design. You think Macgregor would do something to hide the cables where you live.

Thanks Moe. I'll figure it out based on what I see. I am going to do a lot of rewiring to hide the wires and move instruments to the helm. Should be easier than my experimental airplane project.

Is the helm really that strong enough to hold the main tackle?

My 2000 26X has a short section of PVC pipe thru the sole under the pedestal, providing about a one-inch lip above the cockpit sole as a conduit for cables and wires. It is sealed to the sole with marine adhesive. This prevents water any water that runs across the cockpit sole from draining down onto aft berth. If yours is lacking, it would be a job to disconnect and re-thread all wires thru the short conduit section.
