Bunsen Burner?
... that's a pump pressurized water system. Think: Garden variety Aerosol pump sprayer. With a twist lock pump handle in SS. That's the pump mechanism with a shutoff relief valve, to release da pressure; when not in use - or
you'se not on board. [This click in has "Adult" language & such -They can't help it- they're from NY - You'se have Be Warned...]
-That's my "Final Answer"...
& if I win, I want 3 Pizza Pies: 1 Hawaiian, 1 chicken marsala & 1 sausage, peppers & extra Mozz... [pronounced Mutz!] Please
-ALL From NYC [or selected parts of: Brooklyn, Queens or Da Bronx -& Preferably "connected"]

Here's the dealio, I put a blanket on my water heater at home a long time ago and noticed my gas bill went down about SEVENTY PERCENT! !
So I put some of the same blanket material around the water heater in my van and noticed somthing: I heat up the water in the van water heater and then turn off the water heater - 24 hours later - the water in the van is STILL HOT!
So I was thinking, Hmmm - What if I heated up water for the boat only once a day? Maybe I could make a system where you only need to run the heater once and have hot water all day?
So I got that pressure can thing that Kevin told us about and I wrapped it in a water heater blanket and tested it - sure enough - after heating the can thing on the boat stove I came back the next day and still had hot water. The only problem was that the can needed to be portable so it could be placed on the stove once a day and the blanket could not be on the can when the stove was on or it would hurt the blanket - I needed to have the blanket somewhere else - so I thought "What if i wrapped a metal trash bucket with the blanket and put the pressure can thing in that?" So I tried it and it worked. So I figured the best place to mount the metal trash bucket with the blanket on it was in the galley.
SOOOO long story short - you heat up the water in the am or evening (like just before you take your shower) and your good for the whole day or the day after. 30 pumps will shower two people or hot water to use at the sink all day long.
I thought it would be nice to have hot running water right at the sink whenever you want it. Remember the old Dishmasters from the 70's?
It's kinda like that -

This solution was not my idea - Credit for this mod goes to two other people: Castlestone and Kevin (Username:kmclemore) I don't know if either of those guys are even post here anymore - (seems like everyone has gotten old and moved on and since there are no more MAC boats built we are soon to be extinct).
Castlestone had the original idea to move the hot water tank to the galley to provide hot running water 'point of use' style:
And Kevin turned me on to this really cool hot water pressure system - it's great because unlike plastic ones where you must heat up the water in a separate pot this one you can put directly on the fire. Also it's high capacity - two gallons is more than enough for two showers.

Using the hose and sprayer from those sink things makes the on off function of the pressurized water last all day and two people can get a great shower and still have water left over.
It's really nice to have hot water on tap with no pumping at the sink for washing your hands and stuff

So you installed a SS garbage can in the galley? Then slide this tanky thing into it?
Look nice (as usual).

Okay okay
Yes Highlander, there is indeed an attachment to replace the spray hose with a copper coil and my wife and I still have our old mash pot hidden under the galley -
sometimes we still stir up a pot of mash on the stove and pour it into the water heater just in case we get thirsty on board - your know nothing crazy, just a little grog for the cold nights.
(Geeeze! . . ) I know, over here in hillbilly hull we sort of break rules a little, but nothing overly naughty - we try to be good.
Hey Russ - is that
'The SS Garbage Can' or did you mean a SS Garbage Can? Cuz that's not the name on the back of 'boat'.

The waste paper can that the water heater fits in is made of tin or chrome I think - not sure - only the ring in the counter-top is stainless. The most important part of the waste bucket is the hot water blanket you wrap around it. That's the gadget that really makes everything nice. You get toasty water all day long on tap.
