There's a nice observation in Good Old Boat issue 121, July/Aug 2018.
On page 8, in the review of the Island Packet 26 Mark II, the point is made that the owners are downsiazing from a 37 footers to something they can take out more often, more easily. Made me think of our 25/26 Macgregors.

I think that's why there is so many marina queens sitting in their pens for weeks, months and even years on end going nowhere.
As family and friends lose interest the boat goes out less and less because the bigger the boat the more maintenance and crew required.
Sure there is probably more trailer boats that don't see the water for years on end but if its sitting in your driveway its not costing you in dock fees, plus with the keeler your cruising grounds are limited unless you have plenty of time move the boat around.
I admit last season we didn't get out much (maybe 6 or 7 times) but that was more to do with the weather or more to the point our overly risk averse weather forecasters who many times issued strong wind warnings when the wind never got above 10knts, but by that time we had made other plans for the weekend. We tend to plan if we will take the boat out on the weekend around Thursday. I'm pretty sure the weather forecasters would have a greater degree of acurate predictions if they put on blindfolds and thew darts at a picture on the wall

For those reasons: ease of solo driving/trailering; Fact that you can take it out & to safer land harbor during Named Storm Threat - Which we're getting more of, these days, Miss Ollie is staying- Until some former "Island Packet like guy" Makes me a ridiculous offer I can't refuse
