Book review

Post by RichardW »

I have Don Casey's "Complete Illustrated Sailboat Maintenance Manual", which I like. Has anyone read his "This Old Boat" book? Is there information it not covered in the Complete Maintenance Manual?

This Old Boat has more narrative and reasons for stuff than the Maintenance Book. I like both of them.

I’ve got both, and while there’s some overlap, This Old Boat goes deeper into restoration philosophy and bigger refit projects—especially for older fiberglass boats. It’s more narrative and hands-on in tone, while the Complete Maintenance Manual is more like a reference guide. If you're tackling upgrades or major fixes, This Old Boat is definitely worth it.
