As someone who lives in a condo and has to keep his boat in a yard, something that makes me insanely envious is seeing how people store their boat. Whether it be a long driveway in front of or next to their house, a custom slab, a massive garage, or even a spot of dead grass in their yard. All of those are something I would love to have. It must be soooo nice walking out of your door right over to your boat to take a measurement, load up supplies for a trip, or work on a repair/mod! And then, of course, there are the people who keep their boats in slips, which must also be so nice, not having to worry if your trailer is going to break in half while barreling 70 MPH down the freeway, and never having to step your mast! I wasn't sure where to post this but every trip begins where the boat lives, right?

When you buy the cheapest lot in the neighborhood, because the flatland builders don't like challenges, why not put in a basement? After all, it only rains 2 inches an hour every other day. What could go wrong?

Originally built for a small motor home, the high bay section of the basement accommodates the 26M nicely. You have to have the tongue jack high enough for the rear of the mast to clear the door frame. Also, I use a floor mounted electric winch to control it as I move it in and out.

As an avid NCIS fan, what could be better than a boat in a basement? Mine is behind door number 1. Only problem is, the furling drum occasionally gets caught in the basketball net as I'm backing her out... since the kids are gone and grandkids are not even two, maybe I should move the goal...

Tom, can't say I'm jealous of the snow, but nice setup! You could almost squeeze it in that garage, lol!

The convenience of a slip can't be overstated. We tend to go to a different place (lakes, rivers, ocean) each time so it wouldn't work for us but that would save so much time eliminating rigging and derigging!

Dang Bill, I had to Google maps your location after seeing that picture. Looks like boater's paradise! Right on a navigable river with tons of marinas that runs right out to the gulf?! And now I want to go to Who Dat Bar and Grill.

Just sitting in the driveway waiting to get wet.

Now picture it with a tarp, and covered in snow.

This makes it all worth it.

There are two houses between my house and the river. If I were any closer I'd have to be up on stilts to be sure the house did not flood during hurricanes. Where I am should not get more than ankle deep even in a 100 year flood.

There is a bridge between here and the Gulf. It's too low to get under with the mast up but I have taken my all the way to the end of my street with the mast down. It's five minutes from my driveway to the boat ramp. The Who Dat Bar and Grill is on the other side of the river. I don't think I've been there yet but I've heard good things about it.

Top of my mast is about at 9'-9". I've got 10'-1" clear at the door. Not a lot of clearance, but enough.

Once inside, it's a little roomier.
