I had seen this website before but received an email a week or so ago from the company that production was going forward. Pretty steep pricetag (compared to the old Mac 26xs from the 90s anyway - prob reasonable for a new boat) from what I can tell. Looks like there is a hull which is tangible progress.

They took a page right out of the Macgregor marketing handbook...

Looks like recycling an idea and pretending it's new and revolutionary. Boat looks a lot like the water ballasted Hunter power/sailer.

It will probably be a nice boat, and the price isn't that bad when you think that a fully equipped new Mac 26m could get over $40k.

Have you put in your pre-build order yet?

Happy with my 26X. So no preorder for me.

Figured others may be interested at least in the development process. Wouldn't hurt to have more interest in the trailer/power/sailor community. I hope its a success.

I like the water ballasted power sailer format. Hope they have a successful go of it. Looks pretty nice. Of course that 90 hp outboard is part of that cost, too.

Nice to see something new finally, it is pretty looking in the pictures ….
But at what…$67,000? ( And it apparently does not come with the 90 hp engine).

Not sure but it seems to lack a head and a galley as well. Wide in beam and short in keel….?
How well will this actually sail?

We may be newbies but we are much happier with our Mac26X than we might be with this new 23 footer.

There are a lot of nice mods on a Mac26X to be had for a Lot less than the same price for the new design. (And we get a head and a galley and better overall function as a sailboat and as a motor cruiser.

We think it might have been a more interesting design if it had incorporated the features of both the Mac26X & M along with the more common modifications. Seems the designers were in their own bubble rather than seeking what customer would actually want as evidenced by the extent to which they modify their vessels…. Too bad.

They missed the opportunity to make something remarkable and desirable.

There's only so much you can do with 23 feet.

I can't figure out if its the X or the M based on the stolen pics. I wonder if they've even built any. Were the plans hacked? Maybe tattoo yachts soldout.

That's what I was thinking. Even 3 more feet can buy you a lot of space.

Looks like they ripped off the Tattoo 22.

Well, The T22 seems to be on permanent hold, so it's nice to see SOMETHING getting built.

Maybe Laura Sharp should see this and get inspired to get that T22 into production. Maybe even price it higher if the market will support it.

With all the used X's and M's not sure an offering to move down has much value to existing owners. Considering the increased towing capacity of later models 1500 Ford, Chev, and Dodge a few more feet i.e. 28+ may tempt some to move up.

My incomplete understand was that the length of the 26 x/m series was limited by the beam of 8 feet to ensure trailer ability on US roads without additional permits and expense. Maybe someone w more knowledge could weigh in. Otherwise yes it'd be great to have a 28ft version w a standing galley.

It's mostly legal to be 8-1/2 ft wide in the US these days, which is why you see some semitrailer van bodies (or boxes, if you prefer) that are a little wider than the outside of the wheels. And some signs here and there, mostly in big cities, that have a graphic indicating "No 102", as in inches, trucks or trailers, with the circle and slash through the 102. I wont' bore you with additional details, but RVs and trucks are now common at 102 inches wide. They weren't legal when Roger was pumping these out by the thousands, though, but they are legal on any/every interstate highway, and within certain distances to/from them.

And people drive them (RV's especially) everywhere anyway, so there's that.
