26M Swim platform
Last week, I was goofing in YouTube.. and searched Macgregor 26M.
I came across an Italian video of one for sale...
Heavily modified..
As I watched.. the owner showed off a FIBERGLASS swim platform..that was one piece, and wrapped around the OB.
He was able to raise it.. over the OB.
Looking hard to find the video.. again..
(not in libraries)
Anyone heard of such a thing that was ACTUALLY made? Or could it be the one that was a prototype??
IF/WHEN I find the video.. I will post a link.

Re: 26M Swim platform
This video was linked today on FB, but in viewing it I noted a swing-up swim platform on it. Again, I wonder where folks are getting these?

Hi Kmclemore!
Good Find!
There were two videos. In the one of the hosts buying their Mac26M their PO mentions that the swim platform was a “custom number” but then seems to say that he has “seen several around”.
So maybe the swim platform is something that is/was made “locally” In Australia?
Wonder if the guys in the Australia user forum might be able to help identify the Who/what/where/when of the swim platform?
The videos are posted by

Some screen shots from the video showing the swim platform

The swim platform looks nicely and professionally done… somewhat more than what one might expect from an owner to fabricate on their own (unless they are an engineer, love professional design and working with fiberglass molds that is
).
It’s interesting to say the least!
Hope the photos help.
Best Regards,

Re: 26M Swim platform
I have a very vague memory of some discussion about the factory building 5-6 swim platforms from a mold but never putting them into full production. Also have these photos that appear to be similar design.

Re: 26M Swim platform
Thanks for this topic.
I also wanted to post it.
I have also saved many of theese photos.
What IS clear so far: This type of swim platform was not made just for 1 boat.
I guess you cannot buy it anymore new.
Could one of us ask BWY to produce it? So it could get much cheaper than to do it on your own (an with less hassle...)
Last Project: Build it as a winter project. So it woul be great to share experiences. So do we know someone that HAS this platform?
So maybe he could give exact dimensions to us. Just this will save many hours of thinking around...

Hi Kurt!
What a great
idea!
BWY are nice people and have manufacturing connections as well as a frontline supporting role for all things MacGregor!
They would love to hear from you!

Re: 26M Swim platform
I as well came across a couple years ago a swim platform that was a prototype from McGregor themselves apparently they came out with it and never actually released it I was wondering if several prototypes actually did hit some of the boats out there it looked really cool and I would be on buying one in a moment...

Re: 26M Swim platform
I would have mounted the step ladder underneath so as not to b a tripping hazard , also remember this mod would take away the ability to mount a kicker motor brkt as a source of motor auxiliary ? or u would have to rethink a new motor brkt design say something that would swing out & then could b lowered at the side of the stern
I think this would b a better fit get one wide enough to b able to mount the kicker directly onto it
http://www.armstrongnautical.com/wp-con ... r-2019.pdf
just might b a tad expensive tho , b nice if someone in Florida could take their 26m down there & get a quote for poss. multiple sales & shipping cost
if I went this route I,d consider changing the rudders to vertical lift instead of horizontal lift then u have the option of variable rudder depths in shallow waters

Re: 26M Swim platform
I would love it if someone would make an inflatable swim platform similar to the inflatable docks, but with an outboard cut out similar to the swim decks above. I love the utility of the swim platform, but I just would not want it permanently attached.

Hi Highlander!
I like the Quad Engine Platform!
One primary and three spares!
So would one mount four 25hp engines or two 50hp engines in the center and two 10hp motors in the outer positions?

Hi Trdprotruck!
How about getting one of those “Magic Water Carpets” with a notch cut for the engine and rudders?

If you want you could tie on a light anchor and line to have your own island!
