Hi has anyone used the daggerboard to slide up out of the deck high enough to brace the mast in the middle for better support while trailering?

I think you will find that most have made a mast crutch to support the mast whilst trailering. Using the dagger board would be more complicated and probably not real good for the top of the dagger board.
On my boat I would have to use the dagger board line to lift it. Before I could though I would need to unthread it from the block above the dagger board, flip the block out of the way, raise the board and then find someway of jamming it to stay up. Off course then you might want to have some sort of saddle on the top of the board to prevent wear and tear as the mast moves around on it.
I would suggest make a mast crutch the sits above the dagger board. There have been several examples in the mods section.

Re: Mast brace using daggerboard
Although I am a big proponent of finding a way to make everything do double duty on my boat, I would only advise you to carefully consider any damage that might result. Padding the top of the daggerboard is simple enough. Question is, what might the bobbing up and down of the middle of the mast do to the rest of the daggerboard and supporting devices/structures.
The key to inner peace is to admit you have a problem and leave it at that.

How would you support the daggerboard?
I've got a small 2x4 with a notch to support the mast.
