We took 1st place in both races yesterday! Woo-hoo!
And here's the kicker - At the start of the 2nd race I crossed the start line early and had to turn around and start again. Thankfully no one was on my tail so I got it done quick.
Another kicker is that I don't really think we sailed all that well. Plenty of unforced errors and miscalculations.
That said, I'm pleased with the results.
Starting the racing season off right!

The key to inner peace is to admit you have a problem and leave it at that.

Thanks for the attaboys. I'll try to not let it go to my head!

I do wonder how many people read my signature.
The problem with that bon mot is it fails to take into consideration the number of people for whom that approach is not sufficient.

Re: Starting the racing season off right!
Well, it was an interesting race in many ways.
For various reasons, three of the six boats in the first start (Fleet 1. J-boats and the such) misunderstood the quirky course layout and went around the wrong mark. At first they were marked DSQ, but got that changed to DNF upon protest. Suffice it to say the officiation left a bit to be desired.
Also, the finish of the second race was epic, with four boats crossing almost simultaneously, but the times were not logged correctly. I won't bore with details.
Racing has turned out to be more fun than I thought it would. I just hope to avoid getting too obsessed with it. Responsibilities and all that...
