To those with a Mac 25:
Hi,
I have a 1985 model which I have been taking much too long to refurb. I'm reinstalling new interior panels and have a question about how some are mounted. Specifically, might you have...or might you take for me...pics of the cabin looking aft at the companionway. I'd like to see how the panels across the after bulkhead/interior companionway are secured in place. I was remiss in not taking "before" shots when I began the refurb. Some other questions:
1. where is your bilge pump located and where does it drain overboard?
2. where are your batteries mounted?
3. do you have any significant leaks and where are they?
4. have you made any mods to the vessel?

I do have a pic of the interior looking back. The foam covered panels mounted to the cockpit bulkhead are completely cosmetic. If I remember, they were just held in by the top bolt for the hatch board slide (the teak “L” piece that captures the fiberglass board), one bracket/screw to the interior trim, and being pinched by the lower central plywood bulkhead. The lower plywood bulkhead is definitely structural.

For the other items:
1. I haven't installed one yet, but I do plan to. Right now the plan is it will be more of a maintenance pump, a diaphragm pump mounted up out of the bilge with an intake line routed down the to bilge. The upside of this is that it will suck out every last bit of water, where a typical bilge pump leaves at least a 1/2" or so to slosh around unless you mop it out manually. The downside is cheap diaphragm pumps move much, much less water (like 1-2 gpm vs 10+), so you have to abandon any idea of it bailing the boat for you after you hit a rock or log. I am keeping all the original EPS flotation. It will discharge out the transom somewhere, not sure where.

2. My boat came with a battery bracket under the forward seat for the table (starboard side) that through-bolts to the fiberglass wall below the main bulkhead. Right now I am keeping the battery there, and just using a 35 Ah AGM. I actually had to fill out the bracket with some scrap wood, it was intended for a larger battery.

3. When I bought the boat, it leaked just about everywhere in a good rain. After rebedding almost everything, it now only leaks from the stern rail and the cockpit drain (that I know of). It does not leak from below.

4. So far I've mostly just fixed things. I've had two significant projects I would call mods: a custom gooseneck fitting and a DIY galley (I think these came with a sliding galley originally, but mine did not have one). I'm planning on posting both on here when I have some downtime.
