Not sure how close you live to Steinhatchee but if you are close you must be prepping or will start Tuesday. Hope you are not in a low area. We are hoping and praying it will die down to a category 1 by landfall. A Category 3 storm surge would be bad. Be safe my friend.

Ditto's from Orlando. Stay safe and protect that X. We need all of us in the fleet. I've got mine buttoned up at the marina in Sanford. Doubled up mooring lines, canvas secured or below. Main stored below. Jib with extra heavy-duty ties. Fenders everywhere. Electric disconnected. Next door liveaboards with my phone #. These "I" hurricanes seem to have a bead on us in Florida lately---Irma, Ian, now Idalia.

I think I'm ready for the storm. We are fairly high even though I'm only three houses from the river. The areas just south and just north of me flood regularly but this house has not had the river in the yard in at least 60 years. I'd like to keep it that way

The forecast has it passing just north of me right now. For the last 24 hours it's been a direct hit so that's an improvement!

Right now local forecasts only show a short period of 100mph + winds and that will be from a (relatively) protected direction for me.

Thanks for the good thoughts. I wish my boat was in Orlando right now! Unfortunately my property is heavily wooded and the boat is open to limbs or even whole trees falling on it. I cut down a small tree that looked like it might tangle with my mast if the wind hit 100 or so but everything else looks like it will probably stay put.

My wife just showed this to me. This is a webcam from one of our favorite restaurants (right on the river). The view is looking out into the Gulf.

This spot is in one the worst parts for the storm surge area. The restaurant may be waist deep in the dining room by this time tomorrow.

Thanks. The track is continuing to move a bit to the north. I feel sorry for the folks in Apalachicola but I'll be glad if this one misses us here.

The local forecast says I should be in steady 55mph winds with gusts above 70 right now. I'm not complaining but there's not a breath of wind moving right now. Radar says I should see a lot a rain soon. Maybe the wind will pick up when the rains starts.

Power is out. Winds gusting over 100mph. I've heard nearby trees go down but none on the boat or house afaict.

Eye is about 10 miles west of me.

The storm is a little north of me now. Small branches are still hitting the house but no damage so far.

Neighbor just called an said the surge is coming in fast. Water is 4' deep in the yard and rising.

This was dry land 30 minutes ago.

The storm surge took at least 3 sailboats under the bridge. All dismasted.
