What’s under the cockpit seats in the D?
I’m assuming it’s all styrofoam for flotation? Seems like a lot of wasted space that would be good storage, but I’m not going to be removing any of the engineering storage to accommodate that. The PO also managed to install speakers, I’m wondering how he got access to run that speaker wire.

There's not that much room between the seats in the cockpit and the liner, and I'm pretty sure there is no styrofoam in that area.
A lot of people put wiring, lights, etc. in the liner that runs below the windows since there is a gap at the bottom that allows for access. I would guess that once the OP cut the hole for the speaker he then worked a piece of string down and through that gap. The string would be used to pull the wire through.
Where were these speakers installed?

Oops, I think I was unclear. I'm referring to the space between the seat and the stern berth. It seems totally sealed, and I'm assuming full of flotation.Stickinthemud57 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2024 9:12 am There's not that much room between the seats in the cockpit and the liner, and I'm pretty sure there is no styrofoam in that area.

Maybe there is not a misunderstanding?trswem wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2024 11:59 amOops, I think I was unclear. I'm referring to the space between the seat and the stern berth. My initial thought on reading your subject was, "The stern berth, of course" - the queen sized sleeping area that I love so much about the 26S and D. The area above the berth, and under the seats, which is covered by a smooth, relatively thin liner. It's that liner that I am thinking about. Is that not it?

I see now. Thanks for the clarification. I agree that it most likely contains flotation given Roger MacGregor's tendency to maximize usable space.
